This is a really nice place to stay, just va couple of minutes' walk from Sultan Ahmet Square with Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque. The room was samll but eminently functional with an immaculately clean en suite bathroom. Staff are friendly and helpful and the continental-style breakfast featured breads, cheeses, cold cuts, cereal, yoghurts and fresh fruits served from 0730 until 1030. It was disappointing that the rooftop terrace was not in service when we stayed - but that of the neighbouring Arden City Hotel was available to us. This is an ideally-located and comforatble budget hotel close to transport links such as the excellent and cheap Tramway system. There is also a hammam in the basement which was really very good. We recommend it to you and I cannot see why other reviews rate it so poorly. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to this wonderful city.

I booked this hotel using Expedia 40% discounted service, which is similar to hotwire service. The rooms are very small, the elevator is ridiculously tiny, and the free breakfast is the worst I ever had.

On the good side, the hotel has a great location close to Hagya Sophia and Turkish Baths. The bathroom was very clean, and the reception personal was helpful although with limited English language.

We booked a double room but had instead a large bed (still small if you are more than 1.80m), and an extra bed (the one you can fold in two). They could not change us the first night but offer to change the extra bed to one normal, small size... which was not done at the end.
The breakfast was awful, nothing fresh, coffee machine was not working (for the 3 days), bread from the day before as well as the can of sausages was probably opened before the morning. Orange juice is powder and water... on the pictures on their website, you can see a cook at the breakfast, which is not true, you can't request any thing special. Most of the pictures on the website are from Arden City Hotel and not Arden Park. The staff was very cold, not even a good morning (except the young man carrying the luggage, he was very nice). On the website booking.com, they say they will not charge our credit card, which they did before I checked out (maybe because I asked a discount for the first night). Would never recommand that hotel to anyone. The only positive point is the situation, but they are many hotels around.

In addition ı wanted to explain something to you .Room bed size standard ıf guest more than 1.80 m what we can do . ıt is a standard room and bed size . everyday ı check breakfast myself and ı am sure everytıng fresh and there is alot variety breakfast . You are correct coffee machıne brken but e put coffee mılk ,milk powder inside of machıne . ıt is unusual. All hotel rules same ıf you want to somethıng except breakfast ıt is extra .
I thıng you confused web side as well with other hotel because both hotel has a different web site .When you book non-refundable room hotel allowed to charge all room fees same time when you booked . If you book standard rate type Hotel doesnt charge any penny .
I hope everything is clear for you . Hope to see you again and we can try to accommadate you better .

Last week myself and my partner had the misfortune to have booked to stay at Arden Park Hotel Istanbul for 4 nights.

We arrived at around 11pm and initial impressions were positive, with helpful night reception staff. However, then unfortunately we encountered our room.

Our initial reaction was that it was a lot SMALLER AND DARKER than pictured on the website, however we unpacked with the hope that in daylight it would look less dingy. To cheer us up I decided to investigate the mini bar. Big mistake. The ‘mini bar’ was dirty, hot and released a smell in to the room somewhere between fish and feet. The room was also very hot so I tried to turn on the air conditioning. On a positive note the air con unit did work, but unfortunately someone had decided to position it on top of the large imposing wardrobe, so whilst the top of the wardrobe I’m sure was very cool, the rest of the room got VERY LITTLE COLD AIR. My partner then ventured in to use the bathroom, only to discover the TOILET DIDN'T FLUSH.

To be fair to the night hotel staff they came up immediately to try to solve our toilet issue and were able to direct us to a useful knob at the base which can be turned to allow water in to the system. Once turned however it became obvious why it was turned off as having it on provided a continuous waterfall background sound effect.

Still at this stage we clung on to hope. We resolved if we never opened the mini bar again, took it in turns to fan each other and planned toilet trips half an hour ahead, we could work with this. Thinking that things could only look better in the morning we got ready for bed and hopped in. The bed had been described on the website as having a ‘French orthopaedic mattress’. Perhaps it did? But sadly any benefit that such a mattress may have offered was somewhat hampered by the fact that the BED ITSELF WAS BROKEN IN HALF. Clearly someone very heavy had flung themselves on to it in despair, resulting in the whole bed now broken causing the mattress to curve in the middle hammock style. Needless to say we didn’t have a brilliant nights sleep.

I complained in the morning and was assured that the hotel was not aware of this breakage and we would be moved to a much better room. I accepted this as a genuine mistake (although at no time was I actually offered an apology) and prepared to move rooms. However, a short chat with the hotel cleaner revealed that the bed had been broken for an indefinite period of time and the hotel management were certainly aware. Unacceptable on two levels, firstly they chose to put us in a room with a bed which they knew was broken and secondly they then lied about it in the morning.

I then looked at the hotel brochure again and it became clear that the glossy pictures of roof terraces, views over the blue mosque and spa facilities simply did not relate to the hotel we were staying in. A little more research revealed that Arden Istanbul comprises of two linked hotels next door to each other, Arden City and Arden Park Boutique. The photos on booking websites feature photos from both hotels and it is unclear when booking that the PHOTOS DO NOT NECESSARILY RELATE TO THE HOTEL YOU WILL BE BOOKING IN TO.

Unfortunately as we had paid in advance for this hotel we were trapped, but I requested a move to the City Hotel next door. Eventually this was agreed, but at the cost of an additional 50 Euros per night. I questioned this cost and was told that we were getting special deal because of inconvenience and normally rooms would cost 100 Euros more. We were so desperate to get out of the first hotel that we paid the extra Euros, but a quick search on the internet revealed that we were now paying 23 Euros per night more than we could have booked the hotel for on line. AGAIN THE HOTEL LIED to us.

On the website, Arden Park rooms offer such delights as ‘hand made carpet, sofa, daily newspaper, laptop, coffee making facilities, large orthopaedic bed, DVD, fruit basket with wine, bathrobe, shops in hotel, sound proofed room’. These things are not real, they do not exist, THIS HOTEL LIES.

The second hotel, the Arden City was better, it was standard 3* accommodation and although not particularly special was adequate and did provide excellent access to all the major sites of Istanbul. However, I would urge you if you value your holiday at all to avoid Arden hotels at all cost. There are so many other nice hotels in Istanbul, why risk a hotel where the staff consistently lie to you, facilities are adequate at best and the management believe it acceptable to provide a broken bed?

Room Tip: If you have to stay at an Arden hotel make sure you are in Arden City not Arden Park.

arden Park is well located in Sultanahmet area, near Hagia sophia, Blue Mosque and the underground cisterns are on the same street. Not 4 star, but decent enough, staff pleasant and as helpful as they can be. Some language issues, but on the whole they try. A few minor issues like room card not working a few times, but soon sorted. The sound insulation between rooms could be improved. The location is very good, if you wanted you could walk everywhere, we walked to Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market.
If you are after a good cultural short break then you could do worse than this hotel. Iwould certainly stay here again. As per a previous review we asked if we could have breakfast on the terrace roof in the adjoining sister hotel and we were very happy. Enjoy.

Room was well presented but tiny and there was a horrible smell emanating from the drain - the staff did investigate but couldn't find what was wrong. Location couldn't be better as super central.
