“Small and precious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

My contact with the hotel started at the airport, as I had booked their van to pick me up. On time and discreet, the driver took me to a quiet area in Sultanhamet where the hotel is found. I was greeted by the receptionist with plenty of smiles and offers of Turkish coffee, which after the long haul flight were both very welcome. My room was small but very functional and tasteful despite the over the top lavish decor with plenty of gold trims, shiny stones and heavy drapery. The bathroom had a jacuzzi, the room air con, free wifi, safe, minibar, flat TV. The breakfast was a delicious treat of savoury cooked or cold dishes of the Turkish cuisine with different types of cheese, tomatoes, salads and pastries, or sweet cooked and cold with dried fruits, nuts, cakes and yoghurt. The breakfast room remains at the disposal of the guests with the possibility of having more hot drinks during the course of the day whilst resting under the shaded conservatory-type ceiling. The staff is smily, genuinely friendly and very attentive. Because of the quiet atmosphere, I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples, even though I was there alone.

Room Tip: No lift. I stayed in number 17 on the first floor which was a corner room.

Can't say enough about how fantastic it felt arriving to the cool and uniquely decorated lobby at Sultan Tughra after what may have been the most unbearable/terrifying airport shuttle in my lifetime.
Nurcan and the staff were extremely kind and willing to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Given I was 16 wks pregnant at the time, the unexpected extra care and consideration they demonstrated was really appreciated.
We stayed for 4 nights, upgraded to the King's suite for 2; both rooms were very nice despite being a little small overall. Beds are comfortable, clean and warm. Our first room in the basement was preferred only because it would be darker in the mornings, a lot faster to cool with AC, and had a great shower. But, it had zero counter space to store our toiletry items and being next to the utility room, we heard the cleaning staff quite early.
The King's suite had a great big bathtub and nicer bathroom, a little more furniture and was very quiet being on a floor all to itself.
The breakfast buffet was good. We could get a hot omelet with cheese made to order in addition to the number of cold items; fruits, salads, cereal etc. They were in the process of upgrading the facility when we left, hopefully that made the flow of coffee machines, hot water dispensers and the like a bit more organized, as it seemed a bit cramped and unorganized.
The hotel is located well, took us 5-10 minutes to walk to the main square between the Haiga Sophia and the “blue” mosque, it’s also quite close to the water in the other direction. There are plenty of standard restaurants, hooka spots, random cats, and shops along the way to make the stroll pleasant.
Istanbul is such an incredible city to visit and explore, but I loved coming in from outside to the serene peace and quiet of the hotel. Felt like coming home after a hectic day at the office. Would highly recommend!

What a little gem this hotel turned out to be. Yes the rooms are a little small but so full of Turkish splendour. A bottle of wine on arrival with some nibbles. Nothing was too much Mert and his staff. From setting up my mobile phone with a sim card to making me the most amazing breakfast in bed. The team there also organised my tours and recommended many places to go to that weren't typical tourist traps. All in all one of the best hotels I have stayed. Will stay here again. Thank you to Mert and his crew

We would love to thank the friendly and fantastic staff at Sultan Tughra for our stay fantastic. We fell in love with the hotel and Istanbul. The area is great very short walk to restaurants and about 5-10mins depending on your pace to the blue mosque. Yes the rooms are small but they are air conditioned and they are big enough to stay in comfortably. Be prepared for the breakfast it is Turkish style but that is what you want to experience not the usual bacon and eggs you can get in anywhere else you stay. We stayed at the crowne plaza Harbiye in Istanbul after we had to check out of Sultan Tughra to start a tour and we were wishing we were back at the Sultan Tughra with great service, excellent WiFi and a fantastic location. Will defiantly return and recommend to our friends.

Sultan Ahmet area is a touristic area and you can find many many hotels in this area. But you need to have a hotel that you can feel that you are really in this touristic area and Sultan Tughra hotel is exactly what I was looking for.

A small hotel with I believe 9 rooms. But the staff is great and very helpful with a smile always.

The decoration of the hotel and the rooms are in the Ottoman design and really have a relaxing spirit.

The location is very convenient as by walk of 10 minutes and you are in the middle of the old town of Istanbul.

Room Tip: I always believe in direct communication. Call the hotel but still do the reservation by booking.com...

This was my second visit to Istanbul and I am glad I stumbled across this smaller boutique hotel, with more personalised service – a little treasure. I thought the hotel itself was beautiful with its lavish Ottoman style interior decoration and located in charming and interesting surroundings - a short walk uphill to the Blue Mosque. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Staff were always very polite and helpful. As a solo traveller I found it was nice to be temporarily a part of this friendly ‘family’ who were always keen to offer a complimentary Turkish coffee or tea. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be back there next time I visit Istanbul. Thanks to the team – Nurgen, Mert, Mehmet and Hasan who made my stay such a pleasant one! Teshekkur ederim! Gorushmek Uzere! : )
