“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

I just came back from there, it was my first trip to istanbul. The hotel location is perfect, a couple blocks from istiklal st, nice area to hang out, eat and shop morning and night. The tramway which is the main transportation for a tourist is close by "tophane" is the station stop. There is a hill from the station to the hotel, if your young it's a small price to pay but if you are old or have knee problems, then find a different hotel near sultanahmet area. Trust me on this. The rooms are clean and nice. The bed is very comfortable. It gets a little bit noisy sometimes but it's nothing to worry about. They have these mechanical metal blinds that kill most of the noise at night, the switches are next to the desk I found them by surprise. The staff are nice and they speak English. That's it. Ps: watch out when you by things in Istanbul, they double and triple the price for tourists.

Room Tip: I dont know how to choose a good room, but instead I will give you a few tips about Istanbul so you...

Had a great time here - lovely duplex apartment, very modern and spacious, and design conscious. Some issues though - that are simple to resolve
1. No I-Pad as advertised - coming in June
2. Room key advertised as travel pass and museum pass- what this means is you have to put money on it like a London Oyster Pass - needed better explaining
3. Blinds were white and sheer on both levels so hard to sleep though blazing sunlight.
4. Not enough room for all to enjoy the kindly provided breakfast (it is self catering)
5. Need more information about the Suites facilities in the rooms themselves.
6. Better information about a great local area needed too, as staff helpful, but not as informative as you need when you are new to a city.

Nuru Ziya Stuites is a nice place to stay in Istanbul. The rooms are not big but quite cosy, comfortable and very clean. Staff should be more friendly, mainly those at the reception. Most of them do not speak English very well. The hotel is located close the main shopping streats and close to a lot of nice restaurants.

There is no view from the hotel but the bus station is reachable in a few minutes.

The Nuru Ziya Suites are equivalent to a nice 3* boutique hotel at a very good price point.

Location -

In the Pera district, a side street near the Galatasaray tram stop, a short 2 block walk uphill. You're about 10-15 minutes easy walk from Taksim square and about the same from the Tunel station. This location puts you right near Istiklal Avenue's street life, without being right in it. Alternatively, walk 10 minutes down the hill to the Tophane tram stop - a beautiful walk downhill, but I would guess a drag going up! Also - if you have mobility issues, consider a hotel on a more accessible street.

Hotel

Service - extremely warm. It's a small hotel, so you won't be catered to 24/7, and the staff has varying commands of English, but if you ask for something, they try to deal with it quickly.

Room - I had a standard room, which was modern, clean and pleasant with a minimalist but not forbidding design. Decently sized; I never felt confined. The room key was an (unfilled) Istanbul transit card - a nice touch. My room was at the back looking over a courtyard - I had no noise issue. The bathroom has a "wet" shower and shampoo, liquid soap and conditioner in dispensers. They're labeled with their Turkish initials, I think. The shampoo is "G," Conditioner "C," and soap "S." Water heat is dodgy. I didn't have hot water one morning for a shower. The only other minor improvement would be a tissue box in the room.

Extras - the hotel has free wifi (used, reliable, but I couldn't figure out what SMTP port would work for outgoing mail using Outlook. This is not the hotel's issue, I think) and a small gym (treadmill, weights) that I did not use. A simple, pleasant breakfast was served - it was the same daily (pastries, soft white cheese/salad on a baguette, juice) but I didn't mind that.

The price I got was very reasonable. I'd stay again without hesitation.

I stayed at this hotel with a group of friends and we all found it a very pleasant place to stay and from which to see Istanbul. Located on a side street in Beyoglu, Nuru Ziya is a small, modern hotel with full suites that are clean and very comfortable. The beds are great and a very welcome relief after a day of sightseeing. The staff is very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the city. The owners sometimes organize photo exhibits or presentations in a pleasant space in the basement. Lots of good restaurants and walking in the neighborhood. A really wonderful, relaxing place to stay in this exciting city.

A great deal and a a great deal more. The location is right off main pedestrian thoroughfares, and a "back alley" is fun here. Don't worry about noise or light. There are gates which one may lower over windows to seal in your cocoon of comfort. And, comfortable it is. Great beds, duvets, lounge chairs (convertible to beds in many rooms), a great "jungle" shower stall, and a kitchenette in most apartments with espresso machines and the smartly designed hotel dinnerware. Basement conference rooms, business rooms, a great gym (go crazy with the computerized tennis set-up), gallery, and group video room, all up-to-the-minute design and a staff determined to be there and helpful at all times. What could be better for an unforgettable city?
