Asian food is our favorite ethnic cuisine, and even in Istanbul we get hungry for it. We have eaten at the Seoul several times with always happy experiences. This restaurant caters to many, many Asian tour groups with a fixed menu delivered with amazing speed. We order from the menu, and our dishes also arrive in a timely fashion, but have been prepared especially for us. We are especially fond of the pork chop suey and the sweet and sour chicken. The little dumpling appetizers are also tasty.

I do have a couple of small issues with this restaurant. It is located on three floors, but for some reason I am always required to go to the highest floor. The stairs are not bad by Istanbul standards, but it is a challenge for me. There are also a couple of "tourist tricks" that they employ. When you order they will deliver the order to the kitchen and return with a tray of mezes which they begin to place on your table. It would appear that these are free samples of food, but they are not. If you let them remain on the table you will be charged.

They also add a 5TL "service charge" to every bill. The waiter cannot explain what the service charge covers, but it certainly does not cover his tip. I just find these practices annoying. I would prefer to pay a fair price for the food rather than have a bogus "service charge" tacked on to my bill. I feel like someone is taking advantage of me.

In spite of these issues we will certainly return to this restaurant. The food is good enough to compensate for the short-comings. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the restaurant is on Akblylk, and it occupies very expensive real estate. It is certainly no more expensive than the kebob places all around it.

We found the place after looking for asian food in istanbul. The food is good. Service is good. The staff speaks english, which makes it easy to order.

Rating the whole experience high and the only downside was the tea pot. If you are into chinese tea dont bother ordering it. They put less than a spoon of tea leaves in the pot. Wife is chinese malay and grew up with chinese tea, so is able to tell how it is suppose to be.

A minor note is to be there before 2130 because they close at that time even though it says 2200 on the door.

Oh yeah, the place did not feel asian at all.

But as mentioned the food was pretty good!

We live in Korea and get our fill of authentic Korean food. We didn't think we'd be eating here three times during our 10-day stay in Istanbul. However, it was right next to our hotel and was an easy and relatively cheap place to go to during iftar, the time of day when Muslims break their Ramadan fast. Many Turkish restaurants in the area understandably offered only fixed menus during iftar, many of them quite expensive and most of them containing lamb, which my wife is allergic to. After a day of seeing sights and timing our planned dinner time poorly, it was nice to have Seoul Jung to go to. The owner is Korean and the food is pretty close to authentic, although it's pretty expensive. However, we would rather have eaten there that at one of the many touristy Turkish/Mediterranean restaurants in the area (during iftar or not) that charge high prices for food that seems to be the same at each one of them. The service at Seoul Jung was fast, too, and they would give us extras (watermelon for dessert!) without us finding out it was a surprise add on to the bill later on. If you eat on the third floor, the big screen TV will be on all of the time, which is also authentic Korean! Seoul Jung offers other Asian cuisine, too - mostly Chinese.
