Before setting foot on Istanbul, I spent almost a month planning and reading through reviews on hotels in Istanbul as we will be travelling free and easy on our own. Balin Hotel was my final choice after all the good remarks on tripadvisor reviews. I made two different bookings , one on my first day in Istanbul and another two days on our last days in Istanbul.
Upon arrival from Ataturk Airport, it was only 6.30am. Mr. Serkan Ozler was at the front desk , I thought he was surprised to see two hungry and tired Asians desperate to get check in. He told us we have to wait for some guests to check out first before he could give us a room. As we were sitting at the lobby sofa, anxious and worried ... he generously welcomed us with Turkish coffee . It was really comforting and nice of him.
Some time later as we still couldn't check in, Mr. Ozler suggested we go for breakfast at the hotel restaurant. "Do we have to pay...?" was the question asked but he smiled and told us not to worry. I was really grateful and we had a good and healthy breakfast at the restaurant.
Finally we checked in to our room . Well, it was not a big room, but it was very nice and clean . The beds were comfortable for us too. It was nicely furnished, with complementary coffee and tea , drinking water as well as a kettle for boiling water. It was good enough for us.
Before we left checking out the exciting city of Istanbul, we had clear directions and suggestions from Mr. Ozler , which really helped a lot. The best thing is just a few steps out to the main road of Beyazit, we dwelled our way to the Grand Bazaar and all the shops around the area.
Location of the hotel is really great, and a short walk down the tram way, lies the Blue Mosque , Hippodrome and Hagia Sophia . Convenience is all that matters.
That night, we slept so well as there was no noise pollutions and no disturbances around the hotel area. We were fully charged on the next day to embark on our exciting adventure around the beautiful country of Turkey!
Before we left , we were glad that we would be back in a few days time .
We were right, our last two days in Balin was just like coming home because the staffs were just so nice to us. They were really great and before we left for the airport, Mr. Serkan Ozler gave us each a souvenir from the hotel , original Turkish organic soaps with such pure fragrance .... just like the Balin way of hospitality , true and sweet passion.....
