Spent the day with Akin of True Blue Tours coming off an NCL cruise. Since it was the off season, the "small group tour" ending up being a private tour for our family of 3. The one thing that sets this tour apart from any other of the private tours that we took on our cruise is that they strive to take you off the beaten path to enjoy parts of Istanbul that you might just pass by otherwise. For example, in addition to the major tourist attractions of Istanbul in the Sultanhamet district, we also went to the Rustem Pasha Mosque as well as toured the back streets of the Spice Market area. We got to see the more local side of Istanbul that you can't really see with a bigger group. Also, the visit to Pierre Loti was nice, although the weather did not allow as picturesque view of the Istanbul skyline as would be seen on a clear day.
The tour guide was also very knowledgeable about the best places to see the sights, all the little nooks and crannies we could go into to get the best views in the Aya Sofya. He also was able to set us up with the perfect lunch and knew how to hook us up with WIFI access so we could post on Facebook!
Well worth the price, especially if you are lucky enough to end up with a private tour of the sites.
