We stayed here for four nights at the beginning of our Turkey tour, with our three kids aged 13, 11 and 7. Our rooms were spacious although the kids room backed on to a concrete wall which seemed to house some kind of buzzing machinery. It wasn´t a great problem but not exactly what you expect from the no1 on Trip Advisor. The staff were attentive (as they were absolutely everywhere we went in Turkey) although I felt that the tourist info given was basically the A, B, C of Istanbul whereas we´re always looking for something just a little bit different. The pool was lovely and perfect after a hot day around the city although for some strange reason the Turkish bath wasn´t switched on. The breakfast and various mezze were also of a very high standard. We did appear on the terrace (fantastic views) for the complimentary glass of wine at sunset but there were no seats available and the waiter didn´t even acknowledge us. On our last night we stayed in the Shishane district (I wanted to see the other side of Istanbul) in a room twice the size and twice as nice for half the price. Its a good hotel with some very nice touches but there are lots of options in Istanbul for a lot less money.

Room Tip: The rooms that look on to the side street where the entrance is are the quieter ones.

I am swimming against the tide of other reviewers, and debated writing anything, but here goes. It is a good well located clean pleasant hotel. We booked a Superior room and it was quite a good size with a balcony, and a quite small bathroom. When we arrived we noticed that on one side is a gaping hole construction site with loud jack hammers and the building is only just beginning. We asked the receptionist if they had a quiet room and they gave us one on the 6th floor which was overlooking the main road and the tram line. The trams have to ring their bells during the day as there are pedestrians walking on the line. During the night they still work but there is less bell ringing. Overall I would not rave about it and have been in some other small hotels in Istanbul that were more charming and in quieter areas. The staff were polite.

Room Tip: As it is mainly fully booked you will be lucky to get a quiet room

Dear our guest,
I am Faruk Boyacı the owner of Neorion Hotel
I would like to thank you for your precious review. As you know, this area is conveniently located in old town and charming area for all people. Because of this , there are many new architectural designs which have already started to be built. Thanks to these projects, the area gets more beautiful day by day
But, it sometimes causes undesirable construction noise problems. Although the big process, laying the foundation, which makes main sound has been ended. Unluckily, your accommodation period met with the start.

Also I want to make it clear that to be located in the center has some disadvantages. In order to decrease them, we use double glazed windows and sound proof materials. As for the tram used by the local people as well as many visitors has to ring the bell at stops but it ends at midnight.

While reading your review I understood that we couldn't make your stay totally comfortable and we are very sorry about it.
We do hope that we will make it better for your next coming. We look forward to hosting you again.
Best wishes

Highly recommend to travellers to Istanbul. Close to major sightseeing (Blue Mosque, Sophia Church, grand bazaar markets, etc), restaurants, shops.

The hotel restaurant is excellent with a big breakfast selection. Staff are incredibly friendly, professional and "go the extra mile" in assisting with restaurant dining recommendations, even phoning and booking for us.

Size of room, decor, bathroom, etc very spacious indeed - more than we expected.

We wouldn't hesitate to go there again if visiting Istanbul.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights at the Neorion Hotel 2 weeks ago. The service and location were outstanding! The welcome including refreshments and local advice were a very nice touch.

We found that the hotel was within walking distance of almost everything within the historic district. Also, there are many great restaurants close by. The view from the rooftop was one of the best we saw while in Istanbul.

Is this hotel really the top hotel in all of Istanbul, maybe not. There is a lot of tough competition, but we were very happy with our choice and we'd certainly go back. The room was nice, but pretty basic. There was construction going on next door, but that will end and wasn't a big deal to us. All in all, we found the Neorion to be an excellent value.

Our three generation family stayed here for 5 nights. We were all blown away by this beautiful hotel, a little gem in the Sirkeci district of Istanbul. We arrived on a hot July day, exhausted after a two week tour of Ukraine. From the minute we entered its classy foyer, we felt at home. The staff are friendly and attentive, without being cloying. All the reviews we'd read were upheld during our stay. The initial orientation to the hotel and Istanbul, over welcome drinks, helped us plan our adventures. The rooms are elegant and very clean. Comfy beds, great bathrooms, and a nice outlook to a dusty street below. We loved hearing the calls to prayer at a nearby mosque and weren't bothered by the street noise, nor by the construction happening down the street at the moment. They do love their car horns in Istanbul! Great range of breakfast options, daily afternoon mezze and a complimentary drink each night on the roof at sunset make this place special. You can socialise as much or as little with the other guests as you like, but there were lots of tips flying around each night over drinks, based on experiences had that day, which we found helpful. (Some less so... we were't inclined to hunt down the local restaurant that Russell Crowe had eaten at recently!) Our teenage family members were treated very kindly and liked to play cards on the roof during evening drinks (limonata for them). Finally the daily top-ups of Turkish Delight, as well as the take home gift box, capped off a wonderful stay. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in this fabulous city and hope to be back before too long.
