We stayed at the Bada Bing for three nights, paying £34 for a private double room with shared bathroom on the first floor. As other reviews have mentioned, the hostel has a really convenient location to everything Istanbul has to offer, situated on a quiet side street five minutes from Tophane tram station or a leisurely thirty minute walk to the sites of the old Sultanahmet district and twenty minutes to Istiklal Avenue and incredible Beyoglu bars/restaurants (our taxi driver struggled to find Bada Bing but once you get your bearings you really appreciate the location).
The staff at the hostel are also really friendly and knowledgeable, giving advice on our onward travel to Bulgaria and making suggestions of things to do, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were basic but very clean and included a safe, free Wi-Fi and air-con/heating unit so it was always warm. I’m usually apprehensive about using shared bathrooms but the shower cubicles and toilets were spotless, it was like they were cleaned after every use and we never had to wait (there’s also a separate bathroom for females on a higher floor at certain times of the day and hairdryers available). We didn’t use the common room or eat breakfast so can’t comment but overall there’s nothing negative to say about Bada Bing, Istanbul is an amazing place and if I’m lucky enough to visit again I’d definitely consider staying here.
**We arrived at the Sabiha Gokcen airport at 2am and had read in guidebooks that we would need to get a taxi as the Havas airport buses stopped at midnight, this wasn’t correct as the bus is timetabled with arriving flights (http://www.havas.net/en/shuttle-parking/istanbul-sabiha-gokcen-airport/). Head outside from arrivals and get the bus to Taksim square, the hostel is then a twenty minute walk or short taxi ride)**
