I travel a lot for business and like to try new places. I think this restaurant offers food and atmosphere to match many trendy quality restaurants in London, NY, SF (my favorite)...As a local I love Asmalı but disturbed by its overwhelming crowd. This place is at the corner with the right amount of (right) people traffic for me. I have been here a couple of times, the crowd is professionals, students, foreigners living in Ist and some tourists. They have original but tasty dishes. I was really suprised with one starter: the palm and proshuitto combination. Rook pizza is good, steaks are big and good quality meat. Their Patrroka cocktail is someting you should try! They told us it was patented now because it had something in it that you would never guess! Waiters are smiling and ready to help (they have a menü in English, a copy is on their web site rook.com.tr). The music is lounge during dinner and changes to contemporary dance tunes later at night. Has a modern decoration made by an architect: a long bar, a table full of books/magazines and a couch for afternoon coffee and lazyness. Has some views of the Goldern Horn from the back terrace. With its two entrances in the front and back the owner says it will become an open-air location for hot summer days. Which we have been waiting for so long in Istanbul this year:)
