“Very comfortable, clean hotel right where you want to be in Istanbul”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

The Ayasultan is a very nice, clean property located right where you want to be for the major tourist attractions of the city.

Before and during our stay, the staff was first rate. By e-mail, they arranged for a private driver to pick us up at the airport and take us directly to the hotel through some horrible traffic. At taxi would have cost at least as much, and not been nearly as comfortable.

The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly on all occasions.

Our room was on the top floor with a view of the Bosporus, a large bed and a very well appointed bath. Everything was perfectly clean.

The hotel is located in the heart of Sultanhamet, which is right where you want to be.

A decent breakfast is served on the top floor terrace (which is open all night for the views).

This is a very nice local property, not an international 4 star, and it doesn't pretend to be. I would stay here again when in Istanbul.

Room Tip: Pay for the superior rooms on the top floor. You get more room and great views. And, you can walk...

Excellent location. Good breakfast.
We had asked for a clean, comfortable triple room with a good view, but were given one (307) with no view (there was another old building at a distance of 1 meter from the window). The room was lacking basic things, like a safe-box, a chair and sufficient table-space. It had only one nightstand for three people. The floor carpet was not very clean and the room needed renovation in general. After our complaints they gave us a room with a good view after two days.
Overpriced.

Room Tip: Avoid room 307

We stayed at this hotel and the room had a feel of being a bit grubby. The restaurant was dirty, flies on the food which was sitting with the morning sun beating on it The walls had finger marks on them and the shower quite a lot of mould. The linen was not clean and the was no Donna cover on the doona. I asked the manager to attend to these things and went out for the day. On my return the room was still not clean and my requests not attended to I asked the manager to come to my room and showed him my concerns. He apologised and called the housemaid to clean the room but at the end of her attending to things the " clean" towels had black marks on them and I was so unhappy I left immediately cancelling my booking.

Room Tip: D not go to this hotel.

The location of the hotel places you within walking distance of all the main attractions. There are also many good restaurants nearby. This is a modern hotel that is let down by a lack of attention. Our room was a good size and the bathroom facilities were up to date. The roof terrace breakfast is good and the hotel location is on a side street and as such is reasonably quiet. However our room had many carpet stains and wall marks giving it a dirty feel. The room was quite stuffy as the air conditioning was not working. When we enquired we were told it had broken down & was being repaired and would be working the next day. Four days later when we left it was still not functioning although we noticed that the reception staff managed to turn the cooling on and off in their area. Staff were generally helpful but their attentiveness was variable.

The location is THE BEST! this hotel is very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia y Topkaki Palace, we walked to all of them in one morning and enjoyed the rest of the aftenoon in the restaurants and shops around the hotel. we went out at night and felt very safe in the area. The guys at the reception were very friendly. The room confortable and very clean, with view to the street. We booked long in advance and got a very good rate. the tram stop is around the corner and that was and advantage. We were able to walk to the Grand Bazaar . The breakfast is nice, but dont expect too much is just fine. We were happy staying here, because location is everything when you come to Istanbul.Dont miss one of the roof top terraces in the area, the hotel has one, but you can also go to the Sahr bar around the corner to have a romantic dinner facing the Blue Mosque.

I loved this small, modern hotel in the heart of Sultan Ahmet. Our first floor room was small but comfortable. Décor is subdued. The breakfast bar was more than ample and has a great view. The staff went out of their way to help us and provided a very early breakfast in the comfortable lobby before we departed on a tour. Good English was spoken. There are more eateries than one could ever sample in the immediate vicinity (try The Anatolian). The hotel is conveniently located in relation to the major tourist attractions. Grizzles: lighting too dim in the room; nothing to sit on in the room eg a chair!

First impressions were that the hotel is a little tired and could do with some TLC. There were scuffs on the walls and the carpet was stained, the bathroom had an unpleasant drain smell at times.

Apart from that, the location of the hotel is excellent. Last year we stayed in Taksim which was great but wanted to five the other side a try. I'd say that this hotel's location is among the best. The breakfast on the roof terrace is very good and has a lovely view. Apart from the negatives above, the rooms were comfortable and had great air conditioning. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
