“Nice place away from the crowds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

We had lunch here today and found it a very pleasant respite from the heat and crowds of Istanbul. For a change, they did not try to get us to order more food or take more expensive items. The service was friendly and polite. We were very happy with our meal. Our favorite was the chicken casserole with vegetables. We were quietly served a small starter which was free. The house white wine was good and reasonably priced.
The restaurant is located on one of the many alleys around the Blue Mosque.

“Great Service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

If you are in the Sultanahmet area then you know good restaurants are hard to come by. Don't let someone steer you into a tourist trap, go here instead! The TA reviews are right on the money this time and if it wasn't for the city guide, I would have probably walked past. The service was perfect and the food and wine were some of the best I had while in Istanbul.

“Best meal in Istanbul so far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

As is the lot of single female travellers in Istanbul I had run the gauntlet of pushy wait staff trying to entice me into their restaurants before coming across Fuego. The staff were attentive and helpful without being pushy and service was impeccable. It was a good menu with reasonable prices for the area with some great vegetarian options although I went for a kebab on eggplant puree with yoghurt which was very tasty.

So if in the area and looking for good food and a break from salesmen i would recommend trying Fuego.

“Just superb food and service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

Ignore those unfortunate pictures of food choices outside and the many other restaurants along this 'alley' and go straight to Fuego. Exceptional service and attention by John (Can?), and knowledgeable about my gluten intolerance. Try the lamb casseroled in a pottery jug - a serving experience. Food quality was excellent and nothing too much trouble for the staff.

“Worth seeking out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

In a sea of touristy and mediocre restaurant near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, Fuego clearly stands out. The food was among the best I experienced in Istanbul. Although chicken kabobs are ubiqutious in the city, the ones here were the best we experienced. Exceptionally moist and flavorful. We happened on Fuego by accident. We wanted to find a decent place to eat for lunch, and could find nothing in the area other than very touristy restaurants serving food that was (as indicated above) mediocre at best. We had given up when we saw Fuego and it appeared to look much better than the others. We were very pleasently surprised at our discovery. Our lunch there was our last meal in Istanbul before heading for the airport. Had we stayed in Istanbul longer, we definitely would have returned for dinner.
