We had a selection of mezes, a delicious salad with herbs and pomegranate dressing and the salt crusted chicken.

The service was fantastic, and we had a great evening. Delicious! Also, I have celiac and getting a full gluten free meal was easy.

Real authentic Turkish Food off the beaten tracks, in the Old Towen, where the locals go. Fabulous and yet cheap. No tourist on the night I went. Good service. Try ANYTHING!

If you want to eat real authentic Turkish Food than stop here. Its full of locals and we were the only tourists there. We had a meze platter which had around 15 different dishes on it..... all very tasty and totally different to the run of the mill canned dips, dolmades etc served in most of the city centre restaurants. We also had pre ordered the Tasty Kebab and chicken in salt. These dishes must be ordered before as they tak a few hours to cook.
One word about the tasty kebab. You will find this dish which is really a stew of lamb or chicken in almost every restaurant in Istanbul. It is supposed to be stew cooked in a clay pot. They present it in a closed clay pot set it alight and than break the pot and serve you the meal. But the run of the mill restaurants cook it in a normal casserole and than just fill the clay pot with the stew seal it with foil and take you for a ride by setting it alight and breaking it open making you beleive that the meat was cooked for a few hours in the clay pot but it is not. I noticed this when at one place the guy held the pot in his hands without any protection... it was a slip up. It showed the pot was cold... so could not haveben in the oven for a couple of hours. Also the inside of the clay pot was pink/red in colour showing that the pot was not heated. But at Akdeniz the dish is cooked in the clay pot. Firstly you see the staff taking them out with metal thongs from the wood burning oven. Second you feel the heat of the pot as he waiter places it on the table and when they break it open it is black inside.......
And you can taste difference the earthenware cooked meat has that different taste to it.
Also the chicken baked in salt crust is unbelievably moist, tasty it is filled with rice and fruits and is just mmmmm......
Free deserts again home made were complimentary
Dont miss this one!!!!

Morning buffet was really good. There were lots of variety and the quality was top notch.
I think that the food could be better organized but it could be that i don't completely understand Turkish tradition.
