If location is your main priority this hotel is not for you. The hotel is situated half way down VERY steep hill. At the top of the hill you will find a bustling area of shops, street traders and sadly...beggars and their children; not an uncommon site in the city. But we would advise that you avoid walking down towards the sea.....it is pretty dire down there. Anyway....back to the hotel. The Momento is an oasis. High standard of rooms. Buffet breakfast is extensive and very pleasant. DO NOT OVERLOAD THE LIFT! One group almost ended up in the basement when they crammed too many in. The staff are smart and helpful. We ordered an evening meal but found the portions very small and parts of the meal were actually cold and we complained. We expected a new plate of hot food but were given the same plate which had obviously been reheated in the microwave. This place looks great but the reality does not quite match the outward appearance. 4 out of 5.

10 min walk from the Grand Bazaar, 20 from Blue Mosque/ Hagia Sofiya/ Spice Bazaar, 5 min to a tram station. Rooms can be very very tiny. Service was better than what we experienced in Kusadasi and Pamukkale. Breakfast was average. Okay for couples.

Room Tip: My parents stayed in room 303 which was a great size!

We were not able to get our first choice of the hotel in Istanbul and we were given this as an alternative. We were a little perturbed when we checked in to find the desk manager somewhat rude. However after we communicated this to our travel agent, the situation changed. The room we had was a little small, but the location of the hotel made up for it.

The Momento is located near some great shopping and a short walk from restaurants. We also ate dinner in the hotel and were pleased with the food which was well presented by helpful and pleasant staff.
We stayed two nights a week apart. Our first room was small but very clean, the second night we had a much bigger room overlooking the busy street at the front. Not noisy ( good air con) and really interesting view.
Walking to the blue Mosque takes around 30 mins but there are plenty of shops and cafés en route. Good hotel. Recommend it.
