“Unbeatable !!”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

This was our second trip to Instanbul in a year. Our first experience was with a hotel that was top-rated in TA (for those who got to stay there). Unfortunately they also engage in an overbooking practice which they use to redirect people to their friend's substandard hotels nearby. Watch out for this practice.
This time we selected the Hotel Perula. The only possible explanation as to why it isn't rated in the the top ten, or even top five, is because it's so new. The Hotel Perula was a gem in the same area as our previous mis-adventure and at virtually the same price... actually the Perula was in a superior location. It was new, bright, and welcoming, and non-smoking. The staff were relentlessly helpful, the rooms beautifully appointed, the breakfast superb. You can not beat the location in Sultanahmet - just a minute or two walk to most attractions and good dining. Just be aware that they have air-brushed out the adjacent buildings in their "official" photos. The hotel is, like most in the popular Sultanahmet, on a crowded commercial street which means that some rooms won't have vews. But you will have great internal views in your room to match the consistenly great service.

i chose this hotel after browsing through different ones on tripadvisor. The hotel is clean, has great service, delicious breakfast included, and the location is great... Just a few minutes walk to all the main attractions in the area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all, it was pleasant. The only issue we had was that the rooms are very small. Too small for my husband and I, our 16 month old and our luggages and thats why we might not stay here again. Sleeping was too cramped. Bathroom is so tiny and a recipe for disaster with our toddler bouncing around. I would go as far to say the standard room is good for 1 person comfortably. Don't expect any views or balcony. The hotel is squished between two buildings, NYC style, like all the other buildings around Istanbul.

This hotel is in a wonderful location near the main tourist attractions - the Blue Mosque is at the bottom of the street, the Aya Sofya another minute away, another couple of minutes and you are at the Topkapi Palace and in the other direction the Grand Bazaar is near the top of the street! Plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, as well as the tram station which makes access to the other parts of Istanbul much easier. The staff are all wonderfully friendly and helpful and we cannot fault their service - and they are available at the front desk 24 hours. The room was comfortable, had a safe and air con, and couldnt have been any cleaner. The buffet breakfast each morning has everything that you need. Its only downside is that the rooms are not verylarge - but they are still perfectly comfortable. Wifi was available throughout the hotel and was a good speed. TV channels in English were CNN and BBC.

Room Tip: Twin rooms at the front of the hotel are slightly larger, but have street and muezzin noise to conte...

This hotel is walking distance to many of Istanbul's greatest tourist attractions in the Sultanahmet district. The hotel is a nice little "boutique" hotel --- totally non-smoking which was GREAT! (very unusual for a country that has a huge population of smokers). Rooms are spotless, showers are great --- but the room is a bit small (by American standards, but OK by European standards). Beds are comfortable with soft linens. I stayed there in late March and it was very pleasant weather. I had a room with a tiny balcony overlooking the street above the entrance to the hotel. The breakfast was buffet style and had a nice variety to chose from. The lobby is a bit small. The lobby bar / breakfast bar is a bit small, but the bar is well stocked. If they don't have what you are looking for, they will get it for you from one of the little shops around the corner. The staff was very accommodating and very pleasant. The staff have a pretty good command of the English language and are always attentive to your needs. Very reasonably priced. Would gladly stay there again!

Room Tip: if you want a window with a view ask for one of the rooms in the front of the hotel overlooking the...

Stayed in Perula 4 days in March 2012, good impression - in the center of famous historical Sultanahmet district, close to various touristic & shopping centers, tramway, helpful & attentive personnel, good and very flexible service - I arrived at 10am, and they allowed me in without asking to wait a usual check-in @12.30pm; rooms are not small as in many other hotels in this old district. Athough the view from our window was to the wall of the neighbouring building, which at fist wasn't a pleasant finding, but later we realized the advantages - it was quiet and noiseless, no outside noises could disturb us during our stay.
One minus - there are no DoNotDISTURB / CleanMyRoom boards in the rooms - which seems strange for a hotel...

Room Tip: Some corne rooms have a view to the big wall of the neghbouring building, i.e. no view at all.

Mina Hotel had overbooked us and we ended up here one night only. Lucky us. We tried for second night. Hard King bed - tended to dominate the room. Good bathroom and above average breakfast. Room in back - view was non existent.

Room Tip: Although on a busy street - all in Sultanhamet are. I would be inclined to stay at the front rather...

Four of us were flying to Istanbul to celebrate three birthdays and we booked the Hotel Perula on a recommendation from a colleague. The rooms had obviously been recently sympathetically renovated inside and were spotelessly clean. We stayed four nights and the reception and brakfast staff, and the cleaner were all extremely helpful and friendly. It is only and three minute walk to the main sqaure with the Blue Mosque of Hagia Sophia so a great location. The are lots of small cafes and we had a great birthday celebration at the Rumeli Cafe about seven minutes walk away near the Cistern. Breakfast is a basic European buffet and losts of honeys, yoghurts and pastries, plus great coffee and fruit juices; you won't be hungry.
The hotel offered us a free teansfer on arrival, but for the four of us was only 25TL for the return journey. Wew erre very happy there and for the braver, the hotel has a Turkish bath in the basement. We had a lot of laughs with the staff and are lookign forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: The first floor rooms seem to be slightly larger than fourth floor so worth enquiring if you need sp...
