“Average meal with an average price”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Kayikci offered a good variety of Turkish cuisine with a fair price tag.

The food was a generous amount but overall lacked some flavour.

Table service was pretty poor as the starters failed to appear at the table.

Not the best restaurant can find in Istanbul.

“Fantastic in every way”
Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

This is a great place to eat, put simply it has everything.

Great location, minutes from the major sites in Sultanhamet. Great menu, lots of hot and cold mezes, loads of main choices. The staff are excellent, no pressure but will suggest dishes, very professional service. The food is cooked, presented and priced excellently, so much so we went back 3 times in 11 days.

To top it all off the manager/owner has a fantastic custom Harley Davidson in bright orange which he parks outside!

“Excellent service and food”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This restaurant is in the old city not far from the blue mosque but in a lovely lane away from the traffic and foot traffic of the Main Street. I appreciated that the young lady standing outside did not hassle me but was happy for me to read the menu and help with any questions.. So thank you to her she was very friendly. I wanted a small meal as the food is quite rich and oily in Turkey and was pleased to see they offered vegetarian risotto which was delicious and just the right amount.i watched the service for other tables and everyone was well attended to with meze and beautiful bread. I was about to leave and asked for the bill but was presented with a free apple tea and some nuts which I really appreciated. A restaurant well worth visiting on my last night in Turkey.

“Perfect place for enjoying a meal”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

It's one of the best places in Istanbul Old City. The service is fast, the people are very friendly (we got invited for a free coffee only because we went back to see what is the exact name so we can leave a review on trip advisor) and the food is very good. I had the same dish (vegetarian kebab) in other restaurants too and this is where it was the most delicious. The dish was considerably larger than the rest of the restaurants too. They also provided free starters (they came with a big plate with 20 different starts or so, to choose from) and nuts, apart from the usual bread, butter and oil, tea. Tip is included (10%) and it is written in the check. The location is also quite nice, away from the main street.
Overall we had a wonderful experience and we will go back again soon for sure!

“Good Kebab and nice location”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

We visited this resurent after a lenthy visit is Aya Sofia and the blue mosque. The location is good with 3 minutes mosque of these attraction. We have ordered starters plate (which was below average for us) and we ordered something similar to spring rolls (stuffed with cheeses and basturma) this was extremely delicious.

For the main course we had Adana Kebab (which was a bit spicy but very very nice). We also had a Turkesh Style Kebab (It was below average).

The restaurant seating was too tight, that our table was partially on the street!!.

Our bill was around TL 120/-. (3 People).

I do recommend this place.
