“Amazing place, a must visit destination for history buffs!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Reading some of the other reviews I am glad I went to the museum before consulting Trip Advisor! Yes, the panels are all in Turkish, yes it is glorifying a battle and yes, it is probably biased and nationalistic. However you can get a very good audio guide in English and read up about the seige and conquest elsewhere to fill out your knowledge. The exhibition doesn't mention the three days of rape, looting and murder that followed the capture of the city but it's not the sort of thing that anyone would be proud of, although it was standard practise for the times.
The panorama itself is brilliant, it is the first I have ever seen but it really gives an idea of the scale of the fighting and the combination of painted battle scenes with real life artifacts in the foreground gives a real sense of depth.

“Panorama great”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

This attraction has only been open a couple of years, and is mainly aimed at educating the Turks themselves. There are a lot of interpretation boards explaining about the Sultan, the battle and the Byzantine Empire, but they are all in Turkish with no written translation available. The Panorama itself needs no interpretation. It is a 360 degree painting of the 1453 siege taken from the Turkish lines outside the walls. There's lots to see and point out - like the man falling from the tower and the cannon blowing up. It's not that conveniently situated, outside the walls themselves, but an interesting side tour.

“No English; nationalistic propoganda”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Well, the museum consists of lengthy Turkish descriptions winding up to the "panorama," which is just a huge mural of people killing each other surrounded by reproduction canons and loud noises. It's far away; skip it.

“An interesting place for visiting!”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

We visited Panorama 1453 in January 2012.It`s easy to get there, tram station is nearby. There are a lot of pictures there, describing the conquest of Konstantinopol and on the upper floor the panorama itsels is located. It is marvellous. The only negative feature:everything is written only in Turkish,so,if you don`t know it, you need to rent an audioguide to understand everything.
