Crowne Plaza Istanbul - Harbiye
Ranked #376 of 1,159 Hotels in Istanbul
Reviewed October 15, 2011

This crowne plaza in harbiye is near taksim in the new part of the city. The road it is on is quite ugly but you are not far away from istiklal cadessi in taksim that is a major attraction for restaurants, bars and shopping. The taxi will only cost you 6 TL.
The staff are friendly and willing to help, very polite, completely different to the other crowneplaza in Istanbul the old city one.
They will also acknowledge you if you are an elite gold priority member, will allow you to use the executive club and will serve alcohol and quite good food.
If you want to go to sultanahmed the taxi will cost about 20 or 30 TL so it' s not too bad.
The rooms are modern, clean and reasonably roomy.
We stayed there as part of the insight tour treasures of turkey.

Room Tip: Good friendly hotel, not far from new part of the city attractions.

We stayed here for one night. The hotel itself is quite nice and modern, the rooms are large and also the bathrooms are nice and big. But the location is not so good. The area is not so nice and it is not easy to get to. On the internet homepage of the hotel there is information stating that Taksim square is within walking distance but this is not so true, it takes about 15 minutes to walk there. If you want to go somewhere you either need to take a taxi or walk to the metro station, it takes about two minutes. So if you like travelling with metro it´s okey. If you prefer a high standard hotel before location you can choose this hotel. But if location is very important, don´t stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

Stayed here for a week late September 2011. Many positives - large room with a very comfortable bed. Free wifi was great. Restaurant good but slightly expensive. Breakfasts great. Good club floor, and a club lounge with a roof terrace on the 12th floor. The staff are outstanding. Everyone - doormen, reception staff, and the Guest Relations Manager, go out of their way to ensure that you have a good stay with them. Great looking spa and pool, but having to wear a rubber swimming cap on your head put us off!
Other reviewers have criticised the location. Its not the most amazing choice of location amongst the car repair shops, but its perfectly safe, and its very convenient. Many will like not being in the "touristy" area!! Local shops are up by Osmanbey metro station, a 300 yard uphill (steep!!) walk. Taksim Square is a 10/12 minute walk, or a short and cheap taxi ride away.
Overall its a 9/10, and I'd certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Go for an upper floor. Avoid the rooms with a tub in the middle of the room, and no shower!!

I was in Istanbul for a global conference with my Organization and I can't say enough about the accommodations, the breakfasts and lunches, and the conference venue. All in all the staff were wonderful, the rooms amazing, and the free wireless a bonus. While the hotel is not exactly near the Old Town, we enjoyed walking over to Taksim at night where there were plenty of restaurants to choose from, and when we felt more adventurous, we took a cab over to the Old Town, and Ayasofya Mosque area -- (20 mins max). I highly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room on the higher floors. We signed up for the Priority Pass and were immediately...

Rooms are spacious and stylish.
I found staff to be excellent overall - they will look after you especially if you are an elite PC member. Was upgraded to Club level superior room with lounge access.

Free water is provided with the room plus tea/coffee facilities. Free wifi internet is available.

Continental breakfast in the lounge was reasonable, though coffee machine was a bit tempremental. In the evening they have some light snacks as well. The lounge is quite compact but also has a small roof terrace.

Room service was quick and the food quality was good.

Location is fine if you don't mind walking - but that's as much to do with the city's disjointed public transport network. Go up the steep alley opposite the hotel - at the top turn right for Taksim Square (10-15mins walk) or go left up to the shopping street and Osmanbey metro station.

The area around the hotel is a bowl which seems to magnify the traffic noise somewhat, despite the double glazing and the pink blinds.

The hotel is quite a new property and is probably still finding its identity in Istanbul. If you like everything on your doorstep then this is probably not for you, otherwise a reasonable choice if you find a good rate.

Note, taxi from the hotel to the Galata bridge costs around 14TL and to Ataturk airport about 40TL.

This Crown Plaza is ok for business, not great for leisure. It's location is just far enough from Taksim square to make inconvenient - it's a 15 minute walk, without much on the way. Cabs are cheap but traffic can be bad.

The rooms are spacious. I was upgraded on arrival and had a large corner room that was very comfortable. With good amenities.

Breakfast is full service but when small and it always seemed full and busy.

It's average... there's nothing that stands out and not much to complain about either.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade. Join their "club".
