Yesilkoy Airport Boutique Hotel
Ranked #558 of 1,087 Istanbul B&B and Inns

Price and convenience are the two main reasons to pick this hotel. We arrived late in Istanbul with an early morning flight to Kayseri the next morning, so we spent one night here. It's not the closest hotel to the airport, but it's in an interesting little neighborhood with some interesting restaurants around.

The room we stayed in was pretty basic. The bed (two doubles pushed together) were squeaky and uncomfortable. The bathroom was small and utilitarian. The biggest problem was the lack of any noise insulation. We were there about three days into the Taksim/Gezi protests, and were kept up all night by the honking and hollering of activists who were driving around the Yesilkoy neighborhood. We could also easily hear the snoring of someone next door, and every time a door opened or closed in the hallway it was pretty loud.

Be aware that the man at the front desk doesn't speak much English; we were lucky to have a frequent guest give us thoughts on where to eat dinner. Getting a taxi to the airport was no problem the next day. Make sure your driver runs his meter on the appropriate tariff, and pay the meter!

Yes, it's quirky. Yes, it's old. But, the hotel and town are fun. We had a one night layover on our return from Izmir and then back to the U.S. the next day. Rather than stay at one of the many characterless and overpriced airports near the hotel we chose the Yesilkoy Airport Boutique Hotel.

First, for being a very old hotel it is very clean. Our room was large, but all the rooms looked to be of reasonable size. Rooms for singles are well, rooms for singles. I walked around and the garden rooms looked fine, but if given a choice the rooms in the old house are preferable. Breakfast on the terrace with sea breezes on a warm day is a great way to start the morning. After great Turkish breakfasts our entire trip, it was nice to have a very well made omelette for a change. We really enjoyed the character of the hotel.

Second, the town of Yesilkoy was our original purpose. We wanted to be somewhere we could enjoy part of our day before heading back to the airport. We did not want to be in the middle of office buildings or a convention center. Yesilkoy is a very nice, prosperous town. The hotel is very close to the marina and you can see the sea from parts of the hotel. The surprise treat was the Wednesday Yesilkoy Bazaar. We walked over to the train station and grabbed the minibus to bazaar. On the minibus, there were a crew of friendly, older Turkish ladies heading there to do some shopping. Many clothing options, incredible produce, spices, olives, cheese, other foodstuffs, snacks and miscellaneous items.

Tip: As someone had recommended, we went upstairs and promptly grabbed a taxi at departures for this short ride. The driver had seemed to be expecting people to do this as he was waiting. The meter was about 16 TL. The hotel sent me an email with directions in Turkish and English with taxi suggestions which was good. However, the driver had a GPS that gave him directions.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main house are nicer and more interesting. The garden rooms (no garden) appear to...

In Yeslikoy, a nice little neighbourhood 10 minutes by taxi due south of the airport. Hard to find: I gave taxi driver map showing route to hotel, and he phoned hotel to get directions, but he still had to ask again in Yeslikoy for location. Hotel is 1 block from sea, 3 blocks east of marina with many fish restaurants, and 3 blocks from main street in Yeslikoy: dense with small shops, restaurants and banks. Hotel is in upscale neighbourhood, with tree-lined streets and four-story apartment buildings that evoked Paris. Hundred year-old three-story wooden building has been family-owned since 1965. Owner/manager friendly and speaks perfect English.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floors are probably quieter.

pleasant hotel with charming English speaker owner.Good wifi. Not very near airport. The suggestion of using the owner's recommended agency for transport at 20 euros a go sums up how far away it is (cab is about 7 euros). We had a dead cockroach in our room

This hotel is situated about 10 minutes from the airport and is great for a short layover. The hotel has 21 rooms in what was a family home. The hotel is close to a promenade along the water and many restaurants close to the sea. The restaurants are a bit pricey and it will be nice when the owner, David's plans for a restaurant are completed. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are tiny and stuffy with no exterior windows.

We had just a one night stopover and needed a place that was reasonably priced and close to the airport. This fit the bill. The rooms are adequate as is the breakfast. The owner is a quirky guy who made sure we got a cab to the airport.
Just a few blocks walk from the hotel is a glorious promenade by the sea. There are multiple good restaurants nearby.

It was quite frustrating finding this hotel. It is less than ten minutes from the airport but make sure you have a map and a phone number to show the taxi driver so you're not wasting time and money driving around. The local taxis know the hotel and getting back to the airport is not a problem. This historic neighborhood once was home to many beautiful wooden art nouveau homes. There are still a number of them left. The hotel was once a hunting and fishing lodge and much of the original woodwork is still intact. It is a great neighborhood to explore, especially if you enjoy looking at the old architecture. It is just a block from the water and there are lots of wonderful restaurants, cafes and bakeries close by. Our room was on the second floor and had a king size bed. The bathroom was small. It is old, but very clean. It is not upscale but there is something sweet about the whole experience. We had a great breakfast with a fresh omelette and coffee. The owner speaks good English but the rest of the staff, not so much. I enjoyed my experience and would stay here again.

Room Tip: If steps are a problem, make sure you are in a garden room.
