I highly recommend this hotel, not only because it has a great location, but the staff is superb and they will make you feel part of their family.

The Basileus is located only about 2 to 3 minutes away from the the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome, and along the way you will find restaurants and shops. The staff will provide you a great customer service, and they will guide you and recommend places to eat and visit. Their breakfast is delicious, not to mention, the apple cake and cookies they serve at night in the lobby. I tried to get the recipe for the cake, but I was unsuccessful to get it.

Our room was very clean and the bathroom was spacious. If I need to highlight one thing about my experience in this hotel, it will have to do their great customer service. If this is your first time in Istanbul, go here, you will not feel alone or disoriented in a new city. You will feel like you are part of their family. Thank you guys so much for all you did to us. You made us feel special!

Great experience at Basileus, staff provided 1st class service by being available at all times. I do not underestimate that keeping 5 very demanding girls satisfied is not an easy task!!! They excelled in all areas, be it providing requested information, looking after our well being and most of all never getting frustrated:-)))

We spent a long weekend at the Basileus hotel end of June. The hotel has a very convenient location in the old part of the city and from there you can walk everywhere easily. The hotel is quiet, good value for money and the service is outstanding. The staff are all very friendly and so helpful. They gave us tips on things to visit, restaurants to try, helped with taxi and ticket bookings and always with a smile. I can't recommend them highly enough and I will stay there again for sure.

Spent a few days at Basileus Hotel last year and would love to go back. I had a great experience, the hotel was clean and nicely decorated, not to mention within walking distance of several attractions. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful; I felt very safe there, and that means a lot when you're a woman traveling solo. There was one day when I didn't feel like going out and Omer was very gracious in hanging out, answering my many questions about Istanbul and helping me with planning the rest of my trip. Thanks guys for a wonderful stay!

We spent a week at the Basileus and could not recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived Omer and Ekrem went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time. They spent 20 minutes with us each morning informing us how long each activity could be expected to take, they arranged online tickets for activities so we didnt have to queue in long lines, and they suggested which activities we should visit as well.

The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is amazing (we could request how we liked our eggs cooked each morning). It is also situated in a great location, less than a 10 minute walk to the many historic sites of the old city such as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Palace.

Anyone looking for accommodation in Istanbul should definitely consider this great hotel.

A small and unassuming hotel in appearance from the outside, situated in a side street in old Istanbul. Upon entering the hotel you cannot help being impressed with truly remarkable ornate ceiling over a small lounge area containing settees, arm chairs and a small reception desk.

The lounge area offers guests chilled water as well as tea and coffee throughout the day as well as an assortment of cakes etc in the afternoon.

It appears that the hotel has had a complete and expensive total refit both to the bedrooms themselves and to the public areas. The refit to the bedroom and bathroom are really very nice and have not been done on the cheap.

The basement restaurant offers a wide selection of fruit and typical Turkish breakfast items as well as a free cooked to order omelette option.

The hotel is a ten minute walk uphill to some of the main sites and access to the very efficient tram network.

The hotel is family run, and excels in the manor the reception helps it's guests plan their days, even ordering admission tickets for the main attractions on line for you, which saves joining the long queues waiting to purchase tickets upon arrival.

Given that there are hundreds of hotels to choose from in Istanbul the Basileus was a great find and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and have no reservations about recommending it to others who are looking for a tasteful, small and informal hotel, with an excellent location and friendly staff.

Thanks to everybody for looking after us on our 50th wedding anniversary and making our stay so enjoyable.
Mike/Carol
