Lovely hotel with extremely helpful staff right next to Old City attractions. Staff went out of their way to help with information, transfers, tickets, etc. Met us at door of our car with umbrellas in the rain. Helped every step of the way with our four children. Very friendly and efficient. Everything was great. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: family room available!

We spent four nights at this wonderful hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. There is a mini fridge stocked with beverages, all free. And it restocked every day. The breakfasts are great. Lots of choices. You will not go away hungry. There is tea and sometimes some pastries in the lobby. Very nice when you come back from a busy day. The staff is wonderful, always helpful and friendly. It is a great hotel. Jackie Fox

We stayed at the Basileus for 4 nights and I am thrilled we did. The reviews of this hotel are true! The staff were so helpful and really made our stay enjoyable. They were informative and always on hand if we had a question.

The hotel was reasonably priced and in a convenient location for you to see all the sights in the old city. It is close to the tram as well if you wanted to get out a little further.

Our room was a good size with lots of space to put our stuff down and relax. The bathroom was also big which is rare. But what I always look for in any hotel we book is that I try to ensure that the room will be clean....and it was!

The hotel is 2 years old so everything is relatively new. We celebrated their 2nd birthday with them during our stay. It was quite nice, like staying with family and celebrating their birthday as they had a little party for guests and staff. A nice touch as well was the baklava they had in our room on their birthday.

I would definitely recommend staying at Basileus if you are visiting Istanbul. They really make you feel welcome and hope you enjoy their city.

My wife and I recently stayed for five nights at this hotel, a gem below the Blue Mosque in Istanbul's old city. We have been to Istanbul many times, yet this hotel stood out as the best experience we have had in all of our visits. The large third floor room was quiet, overlooking the ruins of an ancient bathhouse, simply furnished with a full bath and shower and complete with all the amenities one would expect in a much higher rated hotel in Europe. Breakfasts are served in two comfortable rooms on the hotel's lower level. Breakfasts could not be better--eggs cooked to order, fresh cheeses, olives and cold cuts, fresh fruit and breads, and strong Turkish coffee (upon request) and delicious Turkish tea. However, the greatest asset of this hotel it its staff. The owners are always on site and the front desk staff could not be more helpful. If it is a special fish dinner or an intimate Turkish restaurant you desire, any of this friendly staff will point you in the right direction. All of their recommendations were impeccable, as only "with it" Istanbul residents can provide. Another asset was the hotel's ability to provide fair and reputable taxi service on a moment's notice, even for a 5 AM flight. We will definitely return to this wonderful city and outstanding hotel.

Room Tip: Corner rooms on the third floor are quiet and scenic.

Nice hotel located on a few minutes walk (up a hill) from major attractions as Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Topkapi palace. We had the corner room on the 1st floor (little bit noisy in the morning, cars are just driving under your window). The room was spacious and very clean but humid, even in november we put on the aircon. Staff was superfriendly and very helpful (they give you on arrival a map and advice what to visit and where to eat). In the morning you can enjoy a nice turkish breakfast. A place to recommend.
