We did an 11 days tour of Turkey and Aykut was our tour guide through Neon Tours. He took us to places, walked too fast, said a few words then did a disappearing act. He wanted each person to pay 6 USdollars per person per day tip. That is 11 days making 66 US dollars per person and there were 42 on the coach. That's a tip of over 2000 US dollars between us. He took passengers to the ATM and stood there whilst they got the money out. He was rude to people and wouldn't answer questions. He cancelled excursions and told us the toilet on the coach was broken. He told one woman not to eat sunflower seeds as it put the driver off, and charged us over £300 between us for water for the 11 days. He told us it would be cheaper than buying it locally, but he lied. He hardly spoke to people from the coach when we were at hotels. These are just some of what he did.

We booked a tour to Ephesus from Izmir with them just at nick of time. It was a small group tour & transportation and guide were both very good.

The tour operator (Neon Tours) is not very responsive when it comes to communicating with their guests. I sent several emails to them and they only responded two days prior to the scheduled departure date. Although they were helpful when they eventually made contact with me, I found their communication style very unnerving and was tempted to cancel the tour for the fact that there was so much uncertainty.
However in the 2 days prior to the tour Neon Tour's were quite responsive to their emails so this was reassuring...

We were collected at 4am from our hotel in Sultanahemet and after picking up a few other tour guests were taken to the airport for our 06:40 flight to Cappadocia (1.5hrs flight time). On arrival we were met by our tour driver and escorted to tour van. After driving for a bit we were joined by our tour guide at about 09:30 and commenced the day1 of touring. Your luggage is safe within the van while out touring.

During each of the 2 days lunch was provided (you only need to pay for your beverages). Your hotel provides dinner on day1 and breakfast on day2.
We were lucky to have had the opportunity to do the balloon ride on day2 given that it was cancelled for the preceding 3days due to strong winds. Collection for the balloon ride is at 04:00 on day2. You are taken to the balloon operator's (Kapadokya Balloons) office for some tea and are then divided into different groups for your balloon flight. You are transferred by van to your balloon (each balloon holds 20pax). The flight time is roughly 60 to 90min and takes off prior to sunrise allowing you to appreciate the hundreds of balloons in the golden sky as the sun rises. After the flight champagne is served and you are transferred back to your hotel at about 07.00 where you are then able to enjoy your breakfast. The 2nd day of touring commences at about 10:00 allowing you to rest a bit and pack your bags for checkout prior to commencing day2 of touring.

Our tour group was small with about 6pax in total. The tour was well coordinated but deviated slightly from that advertised online. The walks/hikes through Monk's and Rose Valley was not done. When I enquired about why we were not hiking in the valleys as per the online itinerary the guide responded that his itinerary did not say anything about hiking/ walking through the valleys. THIS IS SOMETHING NEON TOURS NEEDS TO RECTIFY; people book tours based on what you advertise you cannot have an itinerary online that says one thing and then supply the tour guide with a different itinerary. Although we visited the various valleys seeing them from viewing points is NOT the same thing as having the opportunity to walk through the valleys...

The hotel accommodation is either at a cave hotel or a 4 star equivalent. I found it strange that 2 out of the 6pax in our party were accommodated at a cave hotel while the remaining 4 of us were placed in a 4star hotel that was quite removed from the village.

In summary the tour was good, mostly because of the balloon ride- which was excellent but Neon Tours needs to work on their communication with their guests and needs to stick to their advertised itinerary.

Had a great tour today! Hakan the tour guide was great and the tour was quite inclusive and informative. Loved every bit of it! Very much recommended

Good hotels and meals for our “supersaver” budget tour. Our bus was comfortable well equipped for most needs and our driver was safe and smooth. The guide “Ugur” was knowledgeble and well organised.

Some key areas to note:
Itinerary:
• We booked and paid 5 months in advance so booking of hotels should never have been a problem yet leading up to the tour date, there was constant changing of hotels by Neon - for various reasons.
• We were also told certain optionals could be booked during the tour (more on that later)

Hotels:
some good, some really terrible.
Our suspicion is that Neon booked cheap hotels. to be clear, we asked, no good explanation.

The biggest unanswered question is why we were moved from Çanakkale to Temizel – 2.5 hours away
• Neon said there’s a festival so all hotels are fully booked. But we paid 6 months in advanced - surely an experienced tour company knows this and plans better
• This had a massive impact on touring and driving plans for the next day

Optionals:
If Neon says to you that you can book optionals on the tour - don’t listen. Book in advance for the Hot Air balloon in Cappadocia.
• Our group of 14 were the only ones who pre-booked for the Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon ride (not through Neon) -
Food:
• Dinner at some of the hotels were tasteless.
• Consider taking your own spices and sauces

Again, overall, between Thompsons Travel and Neon Tours, I would be highly skeptical using booking any tour through you again or to recommend you to anyone else. You really disappointed a large tour group and we heard people from other tour groups had the same complaints.

We're glad to hear that you loved our country.

Anzac memorial date matched with your travel dates so we had to change your hotel only at Canakkale. You supposed to stay at a 4 star hotel and we changed it with a 5 star one in order to compensate this change.

Optional tours require minimum number of attendants so we can not book these tours in advance. Hot air ballon tours operation status also announces day before the travel date so it's not possible to book in advance it for us.

We're really sorry to hear that you didn't like our country's cuisine. Every country has it's local tastes and some of them might not match with every single person's palate.
