“A nice small hotel in walking distance of sites and monuments”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

I stayed in this hotel from June 5th for six nights, travelling alone. This is a nice small hotel with less than twenty rooms in old Istanbul. I could --walk-- to historic sites, mosques, and bazaars. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, bed was nice and firm, a/c worked well same as hot shower. Room was a bit small, but I wanted a place to sleep, and it was fair for the price. Breakfast was served in the rooftop cafe with a clipped view of the sea,

All in all, I am happy with my choice, and I shall stay in this hotel next time in old Istanbul.

We stayed here for 5 straight nights, then came back for 2 more before we left Turkey. The rooms where fairly big for the area, probably between 20-25 sq meters. They were very clean, had nice hardwood floors, the beds were nice and like all beds in Turkey, firm!

The staff was friendly, Varol helped us with a number of questions, getting taxis, etc. and Taken was really nice to talk to, very interesting guy! He also helped us get a private guide for the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, which was a good call as that helped us skip the ticket lines and we felt was quite reasonably priced.

The location is great, as you're just off the main road to and from the airport, yet right inside Sultanahmet and right next to the Vaha Restaurant (see my other review to see why this is important, ha!) But on a serious note, you're right next to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Baazar, Topkapi Palace, etc., so once you're there, you can walk back and forth as you please, which is good as you might want a mid-day break to rest up.

The area was very quiet at night and not that loud in the morning, which made it very easy to sleep in when we wanted to.

Breakfast was the exact same both places we went in Turkey, seems like an odd mix to a Foreigner but it was just fine.

Would definitely recommend it as the price/cleanliness/location was good value to us.

Room Tip: Both rooms we had were very nice, WiFi worked great in both.

room was satisfactory- but the honor fridge was not...had 2 beer 3 coke and 3 water- then decised to get from market...instead of doing inventory of fridge they counted the empties and charged 70 euro!! they would not reomove the charge so be careful of this...breakfast on roof was poor

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Stayed here 4/27-29/13 for a few of sight seeing. Accommodations were adequate, certainly nothing special with small rooms not much larger than the bed and bathrooms too small to comfortably change clothes in, though all facilities were well maintained and clean. Location was good in relation to major Sultanahmet sights, the surrounding neighborhood was fair - of course it got better the closer you got to the tourist areas, and I am sure the hotel prices increased as well. The traditional breakfast was adequate with plenty of food for the guests, but again nothing special. If I were to return to Istanbul I would look for another hotel in the same price range but with more value.

This is a cute small hotel in the center of Sultanahmet and 5 min walk from Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the archaeological museum, and many beautiful walls from the Roman times. It is amazing to walk and see how is the merge of several civilizations. The hotel is very conveniently located to traditional local restaurants and Tram facilities. I would like to thank Varol, Tekin, his son and his brother and all the other staff for making my stay so enjoyable and for being very especial. it made it a very pleasant experience. The room was very clean and comfortable and the hotel is walking distance to all tourist sites. The breakfast also was excellent, many options to choose from. The terrace is very nice, with views of a beautiful and old Mosque and the Marmara Sea, just an excellent environment to enjoy your evening and relax.
Thanks to all the wonderful staff for making this stay a truly memorable one.

Room Tip: The best Location!

The Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel is a five minute walk from the Hippodrome/Blue Mosque area and is a great bargain. The rooms are spotless, the bathroom was very modern (loved the big showerhead!), and the breakfast terrace had a view of the Sea of Marmara. The men working the front desk were helpful and kind, and I felt perfectly comfortable in this hotel as a woman traveling alone. My only reservations are the thinness of the walls (crying babies....) and the lack of an elevator. Since I stayed five nights the hotel arranged a transfer from the airport to the hotel for me...something I was glad I didn't have to deal with after a long flight. I will be returning next year!

We were vacationing with a girlfriend from 15 February to 20 February 2013. We liked the location of the hotel as it is situated in the historic area of the city
Istanbul. In hotel very warm and homely atmosphere in this hotel. Service outdoes himself. The hotel has a terrace with a wonderful view of the sea. I plan to leave on May Day celebrations in Istanbul. Again stay at this hotel.
