this is my first visit to Istanbul and the first hotel was The Marmara in Taksim, it was a wonderful experience, the hotel was clean and good location in the square.

the restaurant was amaizing, the breakfast and coffee at night was wonderful.

Room Tip: take the square rooms between 11 and 14 in high level floors not the corner rooms

Perfectly situated in the Taksim area, all is set for making the stay perfect. However, the hotel promises more than it delivers. Nice spacy rooms, sea view if lucky (or having a bonus agreement). BUT, not completely coming up to the standard you would expect for this price. Breakfast not included. It is not up to standard with to small variety and to low quality. More a feeling of eating in a school lunch room than in a 5 star hotel. Chose a café instead - more value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for seaview

A perfect hotel to stay...Located downtown in Taxim square, next to Istiklal street. The room was clean, spacious with an amazing view to the Golden Horn and the old city of Constantinople.
The consierge was very helpfull and the breakfast was good.

Room Tip: choose those with view to the Golden Horn on the upper floors

It was a nice hotel in a very nice place even always crowded but near alla comodation needed for a stay in Istanbul. The service quality don't fit a five stars hotel in tourist zone like istanbul.
Food is good, rooms are clean and people are smiling and helpfull.

Room Tip: for the price, I can choose better

Best location in the new city right at the very busy Taksim square. Entrance to funicular tunnel connecting to tram to the old city is right in front of the hotel. From there you can also take the new subway going north to places like the Istinye Park Mall.

If you can get a high floor facing south you will have possibly the most spectacular view anywhere looking at the old city (Topkapi Palace, Ayasofya, Blue Mosque, Sulemaniye Musque, ...) from a distance. No other hotel can offer this. Futhermore the walking street Istiklal Caddesi starts right there one block away. You will find shopping, caffee's, desert shops, and just a river of people there almosy any time.

Facility is ok, but a bit old for a five-star. Service is ok. Breakfast is ok, not great. If you like to watch people and traffic, you will love sitting outside in the morning and have your coffee or Turkish tea and breakfast looking directly at the Taksim square. We loved that.

There is a retaurant on top floor Panaroma but unfortunately it was closed for renovation at the time. You may want to ask when that will finish.

Room Tip: Definitely high floor on Soth side will have the best old city view. East will have the Bosphorus vi...

We stayed 4 nights at the Marmara, located right on Taksim square. The lobby and cafe are first class, very swanky. It is super convenient to the metro, funicular, and Istiklal street, which makes getting around for sight seeing pretty easy. Taxi from the airport was 45 Lira.

It can definitely can noisy and busy outside with the myriad of buses, trams, taxis milling around the square. And there are hundreds of people coming from/to Istiklal. Makes for a great scene though. There is an excellent cafe called Kitchenette on the street level where we had breakfast almost every morning, and a few late night drinks.

The room was very clean and fresh with a very comfy bed and full shower. Plenty of english language tv stations to choose from and beautiful view out over the Bosphorous. It was a tad on the small side, but nothing too extreme for a major european city hotel. Hotel concierge was extremely helpful. He booked us dinner, a cooking class, and helped us navigate the metro system. Definitely went above and beyond.

Would definitely stay here again when visiting Istanbul.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor, to be away from the street noise.

Location wise the hotel is excellent... right in the middle of Taksim Square and easily accessible by public transport, a short walk from the famous Istiklal Caddesi. There's even a Starbucks on the ground floor.
However, the hotel is quite dated, rooms are small and lift not very efficient. The lobby looks nice, but the rooms need some updating. Breakfast spread was the same 3 days in a row and the waiters are not very efficient with coffee.
I stayed there because it was also the conference venue. Bed was comfortable though. Could hear some noise from the square (I was on the 5th floor)

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the square if you do not want to be bothered by street noise
