I have been several time in this hotel both for business and turism. The hotel is not new but the quality is still high. The location is just in the center of Istanbul and to go to historical part you can use the metro or do a long but nice walk in the city. The shopping area is very close. The room are nice and many of them are with a great view of the the sea. The breakfast is very rich, the service is good and the staff very efficient.

The Marmara Taksim is very warm and friendly for a business hotel. Its a large hotel in the literal 'heart' of the city so access to any of the tourist areas is quite easy. But easily the most important thing is the view! From both sides of the hotel, the view is spectacular! Highly recommended hotel for all types of travelers.

Room Tip: Try and stay in one of the 'Bosphorous' vew rooms.

I have traveled to many countries and for the most part almost always have stayed in a five star hotel… This is in no way a 5 star hotel but a 4 at best.. Now the location is phenomenal and may be that’s why they get a 5 star rating.. So please be aware that in terms of the hotel appearance and services it’s a 4. Staff hit and miss, some are very pleasant and helpful others are extremely rude. I asked the concierge a simple question; he goes on the phone and starts’ talking to someone for a lengthy time then walks away without acknowledging my presence in front of him or answering my question. Here is another inside of how “classy” or “hospitable” this place is during check out I paid my full bill which is let just say in the thousands (US dollars) after the transaction and all paid the young lady say “oh you took a bottle of water please pay me 5 Turkish lira (about 2 US dollars) and I actually had to pay that…. Imagine after staying that long and paying that much can’t even offer a bottle of water. Also if you have kids I strongly discourage this hotel.. It’s not Kids friendly (less than 13) In the pool area they do not expect kids to talk or laugh or play in the pool but to be “quite” and my kids are 4,6 (girls) very quite and pleasant girls but yes they laugh and play in the pool…Rooms are Extremely, extremely small and you can hear the noise from next door and outside also you might have to ask everyday to have your room cleaned…
Overall I do not recommend this place at all…..

The facility has a great location on Taksim square. This is however a busy part of town and the demonstrations in Istanbul usually are on Taksim. We enjoyed the facility very much. The noise outside, more from demonstrators than the construction at the hotel was a somewhat downer but the election is over now. We would definitely return to this hotel were we to return to Istanbul.

Back again after a two year gap (it seems like yesterday but having turned 60, life is galloping past at two months a week ...) and little has changed here. We missed the new lobby, bar and breakfast lounge by a week but the plus side was that breakfast was being served in the Panorama Restaurant on the 19th floor and the views made up for the somewhat limited choice (the egg department was trying to do omlettes and fried eggs on the equivalent of a gas-fired Baby Belling - hopeless!) and slow service. I had a room on the 11th floor angled away from Taksim so the outside noise wasn't too bad but as before, inside noise was bad; slamming doors and noisy maid-service was irritating and unnecessary. I had no problems with the reception staff who were cheerful and helpful but I did discover ( by overhearing) that the nightly rate was E400 ... I hope that was with breakfast!! Beds, pillows and linen are of the very highest quality but I do question the need to change the last of these every day; surely wasteful and very un-green? Of course, the position cannot be bettered and if you can afford it, it's an averagely good hotel but some issues (like the non-replacement of teabags and glasses - I mentioned this two years ago) need to be addressed....

Room Tip: ... higher the better!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Marmara Taksim. The service provided by the employees is wonderful and the hotel is perfectly located in the city centre.
The view from the restaurant is really nice, when having our breakfast.
We would appreciate a more design and modern decoration.

Room Tip: Nice view of Taksim Square from room 707
