“Great hostel choice!!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Cheers hostel was really a nice choice. Very close to all main attractions, the staff was great, every one always nice and ready to help, really nice bedrooms. Really a nice place to stay in!! I got in Istanbul late at night and they organized my pick-up at the airport and everything worked just fine. I sure recommend !!

Absolutely one of the best experiences we've had anywhere in the world and we travel a lot. Tarik was the host we spent the most time with and he was very helpful with not only getting us settled but also recommending the best side trips for the Istanbul experince without wasting money on anything unnecessary. Yeah Tarik!!. Clean, comfortable, and perfect location. Breakfast every morning was so relaxing and the terrace on top with a cold beverage looking at Hagia Sofia at dusk is an esperince one can only TRY to describe. If you going to Istanbul, book cheers hostel. without doubt, you will not be desappointed. thank you so much Tarik and Onur. Cheers, Mike & Carmen from Texas

We took the metro to the hostel from the airport which was pretty easy to do and much cheaper than the offered pickup. The plus points were many - the great, central location which was on a quieter street, staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, roof top bar with good views, the included breakfast was great, room was clean and comfortable. My only tiny negative was the price we paid for a twin private room - it was most expensive hostel private room on our trip.

Room Tip: If you don't do stairs ask for a lower floor

I rolled into Cheers after a 7 day road trip with my girlfriend. We had done a whirlwind tour around Turkey through Cappadocia, through western Anatolia down to the Olympos and the flaming rocks and around the Turquoise coast before heading back to Istanbul.

When we arrived to the Ataturk Airport to return our car we were totally bushwhacked. We called Cheers and they said it would be no problem to get a private room with a private bathroom. They even said they could send a shuttle to pick us up at the airport, told us how much a taxi should cost so we wouldn't get ripped off. We ended up getting a shuttle through our rental car company that cost the same as a taxi. When we arrived at Cheers, we were beat and needed a hot shower in a bad way. Camping will do that... Onur, the owner at Cheers was super helpful and upbeat... I've stayed at a lot of hostels in my life and usually converting currency and pricing rooms is such a hassle... Onur was so helpful with our managerie of currency, I think we ended up paying in Euros, Dollars and Lira, which after our shower we realized was not only unnecessary but rediculous... we just couldn't think straight.

Onur suggested that since we were so beat we should stay in their newly renovated Cheers Exclusive annex a couple blocks away from the main hostel. This would afford us a nice quiet respite and a brand new room with quilt comforter on the bed and an epic glass door shower with water that was actually too hot to put on full blast. What a relief after a week of camping in the countryside.

We ate breakfast at the main cheers which included coffee and a spread of fresh fruit, veggies and hard boiled eggs, olives and cheese... what we came to know as Turkish Breakfast. It was really a great way to start our day.

I had originally planned to get out of Istanbul right away because I'm not a big city guy. My gf was heading back to Cairo ahead of me and my original plan was to get back out of the city. Onur gave us the tip that since the Bayram holiday was just coming to an end that getting on a bus in that traffic would be miserable. He ended up personally showing me around, pointing me to great places to eat, drink and see.

Eventually I switched over to a room at Cheers Lighthouse for a change of scenery over the Marmara Sea near where it meets the Bosphorous. My one night in Istanbul turned into 5. I had a blast, and really I don't like big cities.

Onur took me to a local barber for a full haircut and straight razor shave. Such attention to detail, like taking me to do such typical local things as getting a haircut and shave, instead of handing me a tourist map, made my trip to Istanbul simply AWESOME. I will be back soon. And when I come back the only difficulty in choosing a place to stay will be choosing WHICH Cheers property I want to stay at. These guys are awesome. I've traveled a grip and I know good from bad as I've experienced the gamut. Cheers exceeds.

Room Tip: If you can swing the price of a private room in Exclusive or Lighthouse it is worth the little bit e...

I thought I had booked my accommodation and airport pickup successfully with Cheers - but when I arrived at Atatürk airport there was no-one with a sign with my name. I rang Cheers and they got me a cab within 10 minutes, when we arrived they had settled the fare. When I spoke to the owner it turned out that an internet glitch meant that my reservation had not been registered . . . Despite being almost full he found the two of us a room, albeit in his more upmarket annex, but at the same price as my original quote. It is now the end of my second day here and I cannot say a word against the place. This morning we woke up to a city wide power cut but we had breakfast by candlelight - still with unlimited hot drinks. THANK YOU.

The rooftop bar has amazing views over to the Hagia Sofia, cool music and the local beer on tap is wonderful.

Roll on the rest of the week.

Watch this space . . . . . .

Room Tip: Just tell them what you need - they will move heaven and earth to accommodate you.

One of the warmest and friendliest hostels I have ever stayed in! I spent 5 nights at Cheers and by the end I felt like it was home. All the staff knew my name and greeted me using it ever time, along with smiles and hugs. Rooms were clean, breakfast was yummy and you can chill all day in the hostel if you need a lazy day. You MUST go to the bar upstairs the view is stunning!

To my Cheers family........Thank you, I miss you all and I will definitely see you next time I'm in Istanbul XXX
