Beautifully decorated (plush carpets) and great service. Also centrally located and on the metro. Istanbul can be a bit touch and when it comes to hotels, particularly in the 150 euro mark which is my corporate budget. A true little gem, back this week again! Only minor complaint was that there is some street noise, but did not affect me too much.

nice lobby, good location, friendly staff. i went up to my room only to discover the maid was still cleaning and condensate was leaking from the a/c unit. i called and the staff quickly put me in another, nicer, room a floor above.

i stayed two nights. noticed a mark on the sheets as i was going to bed the first night. not dirt, just a mark enough to make the sheets identifiable. after night 1, i put the 'change my sheets' card on the bed. also noticed one red, itchless bite on my bicep.

after night two, noticed two more bites on my upper shoulder and back of bicep. the mark on the sheets was still there - THEY HADN'T CHANGED THEM! complained to front desk staff who suggested ,'maybe mosquito?' No, bed bugs.

free internet was nice - helped me google more about bed bugs.

Palazzo Donizetti Hotel has opened its gates to the guests first of November 2010. According to our hotel procedures our hotel is being treated with insecticides monthly.
For illustration; our guest can find our monthly check and control bills by another private company as follows.

Nice hotel in the "Soho"-like part of Istanbul. Very busy neighborhood, but lots of things to do. Comfortable, with a helpful, friendly staff.
My room on the first floor was comfortable, but unfortunately right on the street. In this room the noise from the people and the traffic outside was terrible and seemed to last the entire night, with maybe a one hour break around 5 AM. I hardly slept both nights.
My room had no view but looked out onto an old building, right across the street. The restaurant on the top floor of the hotel provides a wonderful view of Istanbul and a part of the Bosporus. It does take some patience to get there, because the elevator s very slow and small.

Room Tip: Get a room on one of the top floors.

Evoking a bygone era, this lovingly restorred hotel has recently reopened (with all the techno-trappings demanded in today's world)., The staff members are friendly and very helpful (English is widely spoken). The location is perfect for getting out and about on foot (the evening walking street is just one block away - shops, restaurants, book stores - I was in heaven!
The neighborhood of Taksim is recommended if you have an early flight; close to the main road, our trip to the airport (at rush hour) took appx 30 min.
A first time visitor to Istanbul, I was delighted with my choice!

After my business trip from Berlin, I just wanted to stop in Istanbul and stayed in this lovely hotel. I've stayed so many hotels in Istanbul for business and leisure reasons. But this lovely hotel makes me feel more relaxed and happy. Rooms are so much convenient and you can find everything you need in the room, unlike other hotels in European Countries, it's quite big ( standard room ) and you dont feel stucked in the room. ( I had stayed in London in one chain hotel, and there was even no place to put your luggage . ) The Staff is so nice and lovely, they're polite.

Also this hotel is really in the city centre, you can go anywhere easly , to the nice restaurant, bars. Downstairs, there's North Shields Bar ( that I love it so much ) and on the corner you can find another restaurant . ( Raki & Fish )

The Breakfast Buffet was so nice, you can see there are various cheeses, fruits ( that you cant find it in London, or in Berlin.. This time at Steigenberger couldnt find any kind of cheese ).

I had a great weekend with my mom and hope to coming soon to this hotel.
