We saw the sign out front with recommendations from the NY Times and other media so gave it a try.

The setting is cool - one of the old wooden houses - but the meal was not memorable at all.

You could have the same fare in any of the simple street restaurants for a lower price.

Service as ok only

The thing that sticks in my mind was the price of a cup of coffee - around USD7!!!

This charming restaurant drew us in off of the sidewalk because of its lovely
courtyard, and the fact that the staff near the entrance did not push, beg, or cajole us to enter!

We were so happy with the food (delicious local specialties, also great vegetarian offerings),
the welcoming, friendly staff, and the atmosphere that we returned multiple times in our
week in Istanbul! You can choose either charming indoor seating or enjoy the outdoor
courtyard on a fine day. A great place for lunch, dinner, snack and coffee or drinks and meze;
we were never disappointed... only that I will miss Medusa and Ismael now that I am back in
Boston.

So Good! Highly recommended.

We have returned to this restaurant on both our visits to Istanbul. I love the garden atmosphere which is slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the street. It is very close to the entrance of the Basilica Cistern, so conveniently located for a day of exploration in the Sultanahmet area. The salads are good, and the prices okay. Be ready to be visited by cats though. They roam everywhere in Istanbul and are not above cadging a meal wherever they can find a sympathetic diner.

We really enjoyed our traditional Turkish/Ottoman food here. The medusa kebab with eggplant and mushrooms was very good, lean and flavorful. The sampler of cold appetizers was enough for a meal for one and very tasty. We also enjoyed baklava with ice cream-yum!
