Spent two weeks on the Neon bus - rolling around western Turkey and seeing both ancient and modern wonders... Troy and the Roman ruins evoked the living presence of the long gone inhabitants. The sprawling, brawling, bubbling, city of Istanbul is marvelous, as are the spectacular experiences of Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the amazing Grand Bazaar. But half of the value of this great experience was learning about Turkey from our superb guide, Yeshim... She made us understand not only old Anatolia, but also the energetic nature and creative power of modern Turkey and its people. She took truly exceptional care of us, and became both our teacher and our friend. We grew to love both her and Turkey. Thank you Yeshim!

We booked the Glories of Turkey through Key Tours, which is operated as Neon Tours in Turkey. We thought that the tour was a great value, as it included all of our accommodation (mostly 5 star hotels), transportation, all breakfasts, most suppers and admission to all the sights visited in the itinerary. We had the most amazing guide - Ismail Keser, who shared his knowledge and love of his country with us in a most interesting way. It is a jam packed tour covering a lot of the most interesting sights in Turkey, such as Istanbul, Gallipoli, Pergamon, Ephesus, Cappadocia and so on. The hotels chosen by Neon include some of the best and a few that were questionable, but overall you had to give them good marks. The bus driver and his assistant were very accomodating to everyone's needs and nothing seemed to be too much of a problem. The only complaint I had, which others mention is the shopping opportunities as some of them were high pressure to purchase. Despite the shopping, this tour was great and an inexpensive way to see an incredible country.

I researched and contacted about 10 tour companies in Istanbul and I was incredibly pleased with our tour experience. Numan was an absolutely exceptional guide for my wife and I. He is a professional, fully certified guide. I would highly recommend his services. My wife and I had an exceptional, personalized tour experience, with flexibility and customization based on our interests. He was incredibly knowledgeable, courteous, and best of all- he has friend connections at all of the city sites- YOU WILL SKIP EVERY LINE, which probably saved us 2 hours a day without having to wait in the incredibly long lines for the Hagg Sophia, Blue Mosque, Underground cistern, etc, it was incredible.

Numan's contact info is as follows should you wish to contact him: numantasdogan@hotmail.com

Numan provides an exceptional service and comes with the highest recommendations.

We just returned from a 13 day tour of Turkey booked through Gate 1 Travel. We reserves the tour knowing very little about Gate 1 and even less about Turkey but the dates worked in our schedules, the price was right, and we were ready for an adventure. We were not disappointed. Senol, our Gate 1 tour guide, made the tour a delightful learning experience from the first day. He genuinely loves his country and conveyed his knowledge with enthusiasm and impeccable English. With 20 years of experience, Senol knows how to pace the learning so that it was always enjoyable and left us looking forward to his lectures the next day. We learned more about Turkey than any geography class could ever teach and came away with tremendous appreciation for its history, its progressive thinking, and with admiration of its visionary leader General Ataturk. It is hard to say what part was our favorite….Istanbul with its modern and ancient sites, the magical balloon ride in Cappadocia, the majestic mountain peaks, the wonder of walking down ancient streets, the food, the people, or the diversity of landscapes. We are already perusing other tours offered by Gate 1 and look forward to the next adventure.

We returned home last week after a wonderful tour, The Treasures of Turkey, with Gate1 travel. The guide Senol was a wonderful host and very knowledgeable. He spent hours at the sites and on the bus enlightening us on all facets of life in Turkey: religion, culture, history, economy, food, drink, and so much more. All of the sights were interesting - Turkey is an amazing country. The highlight was the optional hot air balloon ride through the fairy chimneys of Capaddocia - not to be missed. Our accommodations ranged from adequate (Cannakale and Capaddocia) to fabulous (Antalya and Izmir). The included food was always fresh and plentiful. I have read a number of reviews of this trip and all of them indicate that the people on the tour all got along very well - which is always an unknown on this type of trip. Our experience was the same - our group laughed and chatted and partied and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves throughout the trip.

Turkey is a challenge to travel solo, so we were very pleased to have chosen this tour. We would advise anyone to arrive in Istanbul a few days early, or stay a few days later, as there is not adequate time on the tour to truly explore this wonderful city. We came three days early and were very glad we did - it also gave us a chance to overcome the jet lag before the tour start.

Highly recommended
