We were there for three nights, we got a room at the street side, which was very noisy due the passing the metro close to the hotel. We asked the reception to change the room, and the day after they gave us a room at other side, which was much quieter.
To reach the city center you need to take a Taxi, the room are too small.
The staffs are helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was good and satisfactory.

Room Tip: Avoid street side rooms.

we went to Grand S hotel for our holiday. The whole stay at this hotel was so stressful and just a bad experience.

The hotel staff made us change room during mid night when we were not at 100% and they managed to steal my husbands silver necklace. The hotel manager had nothing to offer other than a very rude "SORRY" at the end. The staff level of English language is zero. The manager only knew a little bit of English and when we were talking to him about the loss of necklace, he didn't seem to be listening to us as he was checking his papers.

apart from the loss of the necklace, the quality of the service and breakfast was no where near the 4* hotel. I am not sure how and where from they have got their 4* from!!!

I would tell to anyone who is checking this hotel out, to not be deceived by the pictures and avoid choosing this hotel at any cost (even if offered to you for free)

Room Tip: simple...don't go there at any costs!! doesn't worth it

Stayed in the hotel for a week. From 11-Jan-2014 to 18-Jan-2014.

Plus Points

1. Good value for money
2. Hotel staff are very helpful, always willing to help
3. Swimming pool is small but you cannot expect a big one when it is covered, sauna and Turkish bath was excellent
4. Able to get take away breakfast at 05:30, even vegetarian

Minus Points

1. Far from the city centre and public transport is difficult
2. Food was not labelled during breakfast
3. A few times the lift was under repairs

General Note:

Mr. Serkan Aydin, working at the reception, was very helpful. Always able to find a solution.

Room Tip: Choose a room close to the lift

Apparently any hotel can call itself a "Grand" and this is no Grand hotel. In addition to being in the boonies, it is adjacent to a highway and you will hear traffic noises constantly through the drafty windows. The staff is mostly helpful but can get surly and short with you if you ask for butter for your rolls during the dinner service. I brought in a large bottle of water and was greeted with frowns and told "no outside food allowed". This is because this hotel charges 4 euros for bottled water that you can buy around the corner for .75 euros. The hotel is clean and the rooms are very adequate but if you are there for more than one night, it will ruin Istanbul for you. Nothing to do at night and you will feel like a hostage. Stay away.

Room Tip: There is no good room.

I've stayed for 1 night in this hotel during a business trip.
The hotel is located right across the Istanbul main bus station and this makes it extremely convenient for layovers waiting for your bus to depart.
I've booked online and it worked like a charm, even if I've arrived close to midnight.
The room was on the small side, but neatly air-conditioned and containing a perfectly usable TV and lots of power outlets.
Since the room was overlooking the highway passing next to the hotel there was a bit of noise coming from it.
And there was some odor in the room, probably some mold.
The bathroom was usable. Hot and cold watter, good shower cabin etc. The only downside was that the soap holder in the bathroom was not attached to the wall very well so it can swing off if you put anything more than the provided soap on it.
The breakfast area was a bit small and crouded, but the breakfast itself was eatable although not exquisit.
The checkout was fast. They have had some problems accepting my AMEX card, but the VISA one worked ok.
And of course the bus station being a stone throw away is the biggest plus.

Room Tip: avoid rooms overlooking the highway or close to the elevator.

I would not stay at the hotel if I had a choice but was put here by my airline on a long layover. The hotel is ok in terms of if you just want to sleep for a few hours. But I would put it more along the lines of a 3 star rather a four star hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Two managers said that even though breakfast is included, I would get a breakfast box as a takeaway as the restaurant would not be open. However when I spoke to another manager in the morning at check out he said that I would not be entitled to anything. Unfortunately, this type of attitude summed up my very short stay in Istanbul, whether it be shop sellers, taxi drivers or front of house hotel managers!!

We were brought here by our group tour and were disappointed because it is not located near the city center. Stayed here for two nights. Room was spacious for the three of us, except for the small-size bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy though. Our room faced the back alley and at the end of the hallway on the fourth floor so it was quiet until around 5:45 in the morning when the call to prayers began. The rooms facing the street may have noise problem, because there is a metro track outside and we could here the thumping sound ocassionally. Had dinner and breakfasts in their restaurant which was good. This was one of the two hotels that we stayed in throughout this trip that provided coffee/tea kettle, a nice touch. We walked around the neighborhood after dinner the first night. Nothing much to the left of the hotel. Walked out to the right side of the hotel, around the block and up, there is a small supermarket, a bakery, some local eateries, and a mosque. We walked around the next morning and it was very busy but we never got to try out any eateries as planned. It was OK that tour groups stay here because we were taken to the tourist areas as a group anyway. I would think this is not an ideal place to stay if you are traveling on your own and have to find transportation to see the sights. I would have given the hotel full rating if it was closer to the city center knowing that we were not be put in a Hilton or Ritz Carlton in the first place. For the money's worth, this was not a bad place for the night.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the alley. You will have an interesting view of the neighborhood and not as noisy.
