Description: Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant located in the heart of historic Istanbul. In easy walking-distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace, our garden enters the mysterious Byzantine Palace that once stood here. Opened in 2005 in an old Ottoman family house where we are now, we offer cozy indoor and spacious outdoor seating, friendly and courteous service and, of course, delicious food, served all year round. Thanks to our success, Albura Kathisma has grown in recent years, but our passion stays the same: to provide our customers with the perfect experience of eating out in Istanbul. With a menu covering Turkish and International cuisine, we cater for a range of diets and tastes. Specialties include seafood and salads, traditional Turkish, delicious desserts, and vegetarian dishes. Our well-educated chefs and waiting personnel are happy to offer advice on your menu choices and personal amendments to dishes if requested. In 2012 we extended and updated our kitchen, also adding traditional elements: a large stone oven where we bake our own delicious fresh bread daily, and a charcoal grill to cook our selection of Turkish kebabs from different regions of the country -- a "gastronomic tour" for the kebab connoisseur! Open daily all-year round, including New Year, we are always happy to cater for groups, families with children, couples, individuals and celebration parties. We are honoured with all of the tripadvisor reviews you have written or are going to write. We read them all and are grateful to receive your comments, ratings and suggestions.

It offers a very cozy and vibrant atmosphere. The selection of the menu was overwhelming us, so it took some time for us to decide. Very much recommended are the hot shrimps as a starter. The gas heaters worked perfectly for us. We could have stayed there forever!

Good and varied food, friendly staff. Ask to see to remains of the Roman palace - amazing to find such antiquity attached to a restaurant.

We had a few days in Istanbul and were not sure where to go to eat. We found this place on the Trip Advisor website and what a find.
Excellent service and tasty food at sensible prices and for that I mean cheap! I've just seen my next credit card bill and I cannot believe how little we paid. £29 for two mains and a bottle of wine. Incidentally, the wine cost just a little bit more than the two meals and that was almost the cheapest bottle. This seems to be common in the places we ate. I don't know why the wine is so expensive (cheapest around 20 euro a bottle for nothing special) but the cost of the food balances it out but don't tell the owners in case they put up their prices!
I hope to see this place move up the ratings as it deserves a higher position. We only ate at the Albura Kathisma once as we wanted to try other restaurants but if we go back to Istanbul again in the near future, this will be our first port of call.

The place is on the touristy street full of restaurants and looks like usual tourist's trap - which was proved wrong. House wine were really dry, decent Chardonnay /Sauvignon blend, kebabs were interesting, chocolate soufflé was great.
English speaking staff, quick and efficient service, white tablecloths and nice decorations finished the picture. The bill was 230TL for 3, with 1,5l of wine, 2 salads, 3 main courses and 2 desserts.
We were group of 5 and now considering to visit the place again, for lunch.
