Description: Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant located in the heart of historic Istanbul. In easy walking-distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace, our garden enters the mysterious Byzantine Palace that once stood here. Opened in 2005 in an old Ottoman family house where we are now, we offer cozy indoor and spacious outdoor seating, friendly and courteous service and, of course, delicious food, served all year round. Thanks to our success, Albura Kathisma has grown in recent years, but our passion stays the same: to provide our customers with the perfect experience of eating out in Istanbul. With a menu covering Turkish and International cuisine, we cater for a range of diets and tastes. Specialties include seafood and salads, traditional Turkish, delicious desserts, and vegetarian dishes. Our well-educated chefs and waiting personnel are happy to offer advice on your menu choices and personal amendments to dishes if requested. In 2012 we extended and updated our kitchen, also adding traditional elements: a large stone oven where we bake our own delicious fresh bread daily, and a charcoal grill to cook our selection of Turkish kebabs from different regions of the country -- a "gastronomic tour" for the kebab connoisseur! Open daily all-year round, including New Year, we are always happy to cater for groups, families with children, couples, individuals and celebration parties. We are honoured with all of the tripadvisor reviews you have written or are going to write. We read them all and are grateful to receive your comments, ratings and suggestions.

We ate dinner once, and lunch on another day. Among great mezes we ate, a star was spinach sautéed with red peppers, pine notes, and pistachio dust. Good service, reasonable prices. All dishes flavorful and interesting, if still typical.

Due to a recommendation of our lovely hotel we ended in Albura Kathisma - that is located in street full of restaurants and people trying to lure you in their excellent place.
The food was delicious and the variation huge.
We went on 2 evenings to Albura Kathisma - and there still are things on their menu that I fell that I could not taste.
Most dishes offered a nice mix of spicy, sour and sweet sensations.
The staff is super friendly and helpful with couples, large groups and despite the business also gives the feeling that they have all the time in the world and they are just there for you.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel (Princess Zoe), just along the street. It is situated in a street full of restaurants, most of which appear to employ a "whipper-in" to entice you to look at their menu and come in (not necessarily in that order). The Albura is less of a hard-sell, mainly because it is very good and does not need to drag people off the street. The restaurant has tables indoors, on a roof terrace (with views of the Sea of Marmara) and in a large side courtyard (which can be heated and covered). There are also a few pavement tables (beware: the roadway is busy). Staff were friendly and helpful and speak good English. Alcohol is served: both with local beers and an array of not-too-expensive Turkish wines. Water was provided. The menu offers an excellent choice of kebabs and Turkish/Ottoman cooking, all well presented and very enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable (about 30TL for a main course). We thought that this was one of the best along the street and good enough that we went back three times.

We went here on the advice of our hotel staff on our first night in istanbul. Cold any drizzling it was a warm retreat and a good place to people watch. Consulting the helpful staff of very able English speakers we ordered the mountain salad and two lamb dishes from the charcoal grill. Although we asked for them to all come at once the salad was left and the lamb didn't appear until we had pushed our salad plates away, forgivable, but we we tired after our 20 plus hour flight and were hitting the wall. The Aubergine and garlic bed the meat arrived on was pleasant but nothing to get excited about,it had none of the smokey flavour usually found with this type of presentation and the meat was equally flavourless. There was none of the normally herby and citrus tang that accompanies Turkish grilled meat back home and at 28 Turkish lira for the meat and 17 for the salad we thought it overpriced

Went on the back of a recommendation from the Osmanhan Hotel. Although it was tipping down with rain, we chose to eat outside under the canopy as heaters were provided. We had quite a range but made sure that we had a healthy dose of kebabs. Service was excellent and jovial - we were given quite a few pointers by the waiters on what was best to have. Came away feeling happily full up. First time i'd ever tried salep. Although we were in istanbul for 4 nights, we had dinner here twice.
