“Good choice for business or leisure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Modern hotel nicely decorated. Good staff. Located just outside the "tourist zone," but there is a tram stop just outside the hotel. Free Interent. Chose an interior room to reduce street noise. Staff helpful with tourist services.

Don't expect a typical tourist-class American-style Doubletree. This is more like a Westin or even a W in terms of design detail and fit and finish. The rooms are a soft International-style modern with warm exotic wood finishes, linear lines, glass, mirror and chrome details with large oversized windows that have city-quiet insulation. The bathrooms are gorgeous and have Carrera marble walls with oversized vessel sinks and beautiful fixtures. As a New Yorker who's plugged into this kind of design I really appreciated the luxury of it all. The rooms were spotless and had nice touches like free bottled water, tooth brush and shaving kits as well as luxurious Turkish towels. The breakfast is well stocked with options for many cultural tastes and has a made-to-order egg station which was one of the first I found in the Middle East. Free Internet in the lobby via Wifi or business-center PCs. Wired Internet in the room or pay-per-day Wifi in the rooms. As others have mentioned the tram is right out front and you can walk to most of the major old town sites. The airport is about 40 minutes away with traffic and Taksim square is about about a $7 cab ride (or a tram and funicular ride which can actually be faster with the horrible traffic). Staff are professional, helpful and are English speaking among other languages. I stayed at a more sophisticated hotel on this trip as well and frankly preferred the Doubletree.

Room Tip: 132 is a junior suite with 2 bathrooms, fold out sofa and a corner with windows on 2 faces. The non...

The staff at DT Hilton welcome you and make you feel at home. Literally in front of the University tram stop and nestled in between shops it is easy to miss if facing the wrong way on the tram. Great beds but could be a bit soft for some. Yes rooms are small but this seems to be a DT thing. Great to have free internet in the business centre, but there are only 3 desktops so at peak times, you will have to go back into your room. 20TL a day for wi fi is not outrageous (around 11 US dollars) if you don't want to use public computers int he business centre. The fitess centre is open 24 hours a day and the spa area from 0800 till 2200. The spa has sauna (separate sex) hamam, steam room and 4 person jacuzzi. All towels and bathrobes and slippers provided downstairs. All is complimentary. You pay extra only if you want a massage or turkish scrub down. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment. Check in was swift and efficient. Satelite TV could do with a few more English and international channels. APart from that, I would stay again for sure.

convenient location, right at a tram stop, yet not so busy and crowded out front; easy walk to Grand Bazaar, walk or quick tram ride to Hagia Sophia, Blue, Topkapi Palace and many other places one would like to visit. The neighborhood is safe, with a reasonable number of places to eat, especially local cafes. The rooms were well appointed, comfortable, clean and quiet, the service friendly and efficient.

This hotel is in an excellent location, close to the Grand Bazaar and about 10 minutes walk from Sultanahmet and Hagia Sofia area, Metro is right on front of the hotel..Very clean with modern furniture, most staff at the reception and lobby speak English and very warm in welcoming guests with famous DT cookies with a smile..
The main draw back was the very small size rooms, although I have booked the Deluxe room), suites were not available.. I booked for 7 days but ended up leaving after 2 days because of the size of the room and NO VIEW at all, the balcony has some trees looking on a back street with some buildings which was very boring..our room was on the 3rd floor (the hotel has 5 floors) and coming from a long journey in the USA for more than 2 months, we had 5 large luggage and 2 small one!!! the room was enough just for the luggage. If any traveler is staying for 1-3 nights with no children or luggage, this hotel is OK..
We were told that they would move us to a suite but in a day or two, but we just were not comfortable and decided to leave.. Breakfast was OK, typical nothing to drag about, coffee was terrible, not many selections.. By the way, if you have a back problems like we do, them do not stay there, the mattress is very soft that you sink in as if you are sleeping on water mattress..When I asked to change the mattress, they said it was not possible because this is what they have and they call it "Dream Mattress"???? They ended up removing the mattress cover, but did not make much difference..It is also very expensive hotel.

Room Tip: No room with a view, just stay there if you have to for 1 or 2 nights.

This very convenient located hotel in the middle of Istanbul's old town is perfect for sightseeing. It is very close to the Grand Bazar and only 15 minutes away from the Hagia Sofia.

The hotel itself is very modern and the rooms have a very nice and welcoming feeling to them. One should also mention the very good breakfast buffet. It ranges from cooked-to-order omlets to honey from a honey comp.

I found a good deal at this hotel while in Istanbul on vacation. It's located on a busy main street and an easy 10-minute walk from The Blue Mosque and a huge selection of restaurants in Old Istanbul. I found the neighborhood friendly and safe. The hotel itself was very comfortable with friendly and efficient front desk staff. My room was small, but very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. It was also very quiet, despite the traffic outside. A note about traffic...there is lots of it. I found myself stuck in a taxi on a side-street near the hotel trying to get to another property. Not much you can do about that though, although the trams are convenient.
