“World Class Tour Guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2011

As part of a larger tour I travelled with Arif for two weeks throughout Turkey in March 2009. We travelled along the coast from Gallipoli to Antalya, over through Cappadocia and then down to the Syrian border.

As a professional tour guide myself, I was struck by Arif's high level of professionalism and knowledge of his country. He was very approachable, personable and friendly. He made our tour very personal, with his easy going willingness to share from his vast experiences and life like an old friend. His organisational skills and knowledge in all areas of Turkish life were exceptional.

I left Turkey with much more than I expected thanks to Arif, and will always be contacting him on return.

“Excellent Private Tour Guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2010

I recently spent four days in Istanbul with my family, and we took two tours we had arranged with a private tour guide, Arif Yasa, who we found through his website http://mytouristanbul.com/home.html. We all had a fantastic time, and I really cannot recommend Arif highly enough. As well as being a licensed guide in Turkey he has worked and travelled worldwide, and we felt that this really showed in the level of his English, his friendliness and flexibility.

As we had never visited Istanbul before, on our first day we had quite a classic day tour, visiting the Hippodrome, Haghia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Basillica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar. Arif gave us exactly the right amout of historical infomation and was happy to answer any questions we came up with.

We all agreed however that the highlight of our time in Istanbul came the following day when we took the 'Walking Istanbul in 2 Continents' tour. This began with us walking the backstreets around the book bazaar, where Arif used the things we saw as starting points for a discussion of many different aspects of life in Turkey. (It was particularly amusing to watch the expressions on the faces of the men in our group when the subject of circumcision came up!) A short ferry ride then transported us to the Asian part of the city for the first time. We really felt that this tour gave us the opportunity to see a different side of Istanbul, visiting areas we would not have found using our guidebooks.

Finally, we appreciated Arif's recommendations for ways in which we could spend the rest of our time in the city, from turkish baths to restaurants and evening entertainment.
