I tried the upstairs cafe above the sweet shop opposite Sirkeci station. For Istanbul, this was pricey and the baklavas I had were sickly because they were full of melted butter, which gave them a peculiar and unpleasant taste. If you go there, try something else!

We walked into the shop after seeing all the families enjoying themselves. Free samples of various types of Turkish Delight were offered to everyone who walked by. It was late afternoon on a Saturday after a 4-day holiday so the restaurant/café was very crowded. We decided to purchase a 500+ gram box of Turkish Delight to take home. The prices ranged anywhere from 12 TL to 30 TL for a similar sized box - the ingredients used in the sweets determine the price. The box we chose had an assortment of nuts and flavors, one of which is rose water. These are MUCH BETTER quality than the boxed Turkish Delight sold at the souvenir shops and grocery stores.

They have more than one restaurant in Istanbul and the one we've tried was that near Taksim Square. We had cakes and drinks and the bill amounted up to 20 TL for two. One can say that this doesn't come very cheap, but I believe that it is worth what you pay for. I had an unbelievable vanilla and exotic fruits cake (something close to a pannacota), while my boyfriend settled for the more traditional but at least equally delicious rice pudding. Unfortunately they were out of the pomegranate juice on that day, so we had to order lemonade and grape juice.
All in all, I would say that going to Haviz Mustafa to treat your sweet tooth is one of the most enjoyable experiences in this great city.
