After your long flight to the fabulous city of Istanbul, what do you need? An intimate, spotless, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing small hotel with a terrific staff. Seriously. There are lots of hotels, pensions, and b&b's in the Sultanahmet area, but you will be so glad you picked Hotel Djem. Farouk will take of your every need, answer questions, and do so as if it's his sole purpose to please you. Wonderful breakfast is included...everything fresh and delicious. Good air conditioning, ( really appreciated in the hot humid weather), bathtubs...all is modern yet cozy. Around the corner is the Blue Mosque, Sultanahmet Park, and within short walking distance are Haga Sofya, Basilica Cistern, and Topkapi Palace...not to mention the tram, plenty of restaurants and the Grand Bazaar....Don't miss the Arasta Bazaar behind the Blue Mosque for a more low-key, quality shopping experience after the mother of all shopping destinations, the Grand Bazaar. Honestly, don't mess around with more expensive hotels...this is all you need and you will feel like a Sultan....well, almost!

Hotel Djem made our trip to Istanbul extremely comfortable and warm, like staying at a friend's house in their nicest room. Location was perfect to be close to the sights without being in the middle of the tourist traffic. The breakfasts are QUALITY over quantity, with the selection of fresh local and regional fruits, cheeses, pastries, olives, eggs, tomatoes and cucumbers plenty to fill anyone's stomach. Rooms are comfortable and tasteful, understated without being sparse; bathroom is functional and small. The only thing that some people may not find perfect are that there are stairs involved to get to your room and the earliest prayer call of 5 daily from the Blue Mosque is at 4:30 a.m. - I didn't mind either! Both the owners and the staff are sincere, hospitable and seem to love people. Their recommendations on what to see and where to go/eat are spot on. THANK YOU DJEM for a wonderful stay and even better memories.

As soon as you walk into this boutique hotel , you know you've made the right choice .We enjoyed everything of our stay : the welcoming smile of Mety , always available for sincere information and tips, the nicely decorated rooms with all comforts without any obsolete excess, the abundant breakfast table , the incredible quietness of the road , the calls of the muezin from the nearby blue Mosque , the proximity of cultural sites . When we met the owner, Mr Farouk, we understood why this boutique hotel had such a personal touch- and approach . Every morning Mr Farouk met his guests and took the time to exchange views , dreams, and more . He always had a nice thought for each of us : a turskish coffee, a tchai . Our flight back to Italy was late , and he let us stay in the room long after checking out time . He is what we in italian would say " un signore "- and the hotel a real "hidden jewel in the heart of Sultanameth"
