“The staff could not be more helpful”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

On arrival we were welcomed with a drink, we were swiftly booked in. The room was very nice and comfortable. I liked the theme of the room which is clearly advertised. The Sultania is right in the middle of the action. All of the popular attractions are within a 20 minute walk. The breakfast was excellent, with a chef on hand to cook a fresh omelette or in my case a couple of fried eggs. Make sure you cut yourself a piece of honeycomb, it is delicious. The waiters were attentive but not intrusive. The Olive restaurant is excellent albeit a little expensive compared to the Imbat Hotel just around the corner. The Imbat offered similar quality food less expensively. I would undoubtedly recommend the Sultania as a value for money, excellently situated hotel.

One gem we found was the Rehmi Koc museum. It is about a 10tl taxi ride that houses a collection of cars, boats, trains and planes, an absolute must if you like transport history. Can't remember the entry fee but it wasn't much. Don't try to walk it as you will crossing roads with fast moving traffic that does not consider pedestrian safety. Those of you that have been to Turkey before know what I mean.

Thank you to all the staff at the Sultania for a memorable stay.

This hotel was recommended by tripadviser users and they were sooo right. We have spend 6 days there and it was fantastic .We had a superior room with the balcony on the 5th floor.Very spacious and comfortable, clean and good shower. Breakfast had a good selection of fresh products and you could outside which is very quiet in the morning. The highlight was the staff of this hotel . At all levels they were the most friendly and helpful, polite and smiling.Great asset to this place. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Middle age Australians

Room Tip: Our room was Olga Hatun on the 5th floor. Very good but you have to keep doors closed in the evening...

We went to Istanbul to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday, a special occasion and the hotel we had chosen also turned out to be very special. Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable with a staff who were all so friendly and could not do enough to help you. For us this was particularly true of Hilmi and Gerstoy. Hilmi was so knowledable about Istanbul and Turkey in general. The breakfast was amazing, an especially lovely selection of cheese. A great location, roof top bar with an amazing view of the Hagia Sophia and the restuarant with a great evening view of the city and Bosphorus river with wonderful food as well.

Had a great stay in this lovely hotel in the old part of Istanbul. Very close to sites such as Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar etc. and very convenient for trams and Bosphorus ferries. Hot and cold breakfast buffet was super. The hotel's hammam style spa was great. The rooms, facilities and service couldn't have been better. Free tea, coffee and pastries in the afternoon is a nice touch. We were really made to feel like valued guests. Wonderful!

Totally enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and patient. The location was close to sights or transportation. Breakfast was delicious. And they even packed us a boxed breakfast when we had to leave early for our flight. Would definitely recommend.

I chose this hotel because, during my stay in the popular nearby hotel Sirkeci Konak last time, I had found its appearance so modern and stylish, even more attractive than the traditional Ottoman style of the latter. Tripadvisor travellers' high rating of this hotel corroborated my choice.
In conclusion, the hotel is never bad, absolutely o.k. for a short stay, but has nothing special that deserves to be so highly rated:
1. The room is fairly small, but this is acceptable. Really terrible is the bathroom, when the term can be applied to this tiny space where there is no room for not only a bathtub but also a sink―you have to brush your teeth beside the bed! When you take the shower, which is so near to the toilet, you have to shut "the door," precisely a semitransparent partition wall between this space and the room, so that the toilet is open to the view.
2. The hotel boasts that each room has unique, gorgeous decor in accordance with, e.g. a princess who the room is named after. This looks nice in photos, but in reality is cheap: the princess portrait of our room seemed to be a crude, amateur watercolor painting. The above mentioned partition wall shows a stereotyped harem girls in loud colors. Personally, I think this ruins the atmosphere of the room.
3.Our room was was situated on the 1st. floor alongside a noisy street with tourist restaurants which are open until midnight or even later.
4. The lift was too small and never stopped for us.
For almost the same price, the Sirkeci konak was far better deal―at least the room was spacious, chick and the neighborhood was more quiet.
