“A welcome respite in Istanbul”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We spent two weeks in Turkey, saving money by staying in AirBnbs and then "splurging" on Hotel Sultania for two nights. It was a great decision - the staff were incredibly helpful and outgoing, and lots of little perks abounded - our favorite being the Turkish Delight waiting for us in our room when we checked in. Since we had already been to the major attractions, they gave us some wonderful options for sights to see a bit farther off the beaten path. Our flight left early in the morning, but they organized a breakfast to-go. The breakfast buffet was great, and we enjoyed cocktails in the Olive Restaurant with views of Hagia Sophia. Despite its central location, our room was very quiet and peaceful. Would stay with them again and highly recommend.

Im not sure that i can add much more than what everyone has already said. This hotel really is in a great location for all the main tourist sites and also a great hotel to stay in. The breakfast was great, definately the best i had throughout my 12 days in Turkey and the rooms exactly how they appear on the hotel's own website. I would classify this more of a boutique style hotel with a definite turkish twist, i loved the turkish sultan themed rooms, the bed was very comfortable and i thought the room was a great size (i had a corner room). The complimentary turkish delight, tea/ coffee and water was also appreciated. The free airport transfer and pre payment discount when booking online also made it great value.

We spent 6 nights on our recent trip to Instanbul and are pleased to say that the hotel lived up to all of our expectations! It's just as it looks on the website. The hotel is modern, the rooms were beautifully decorated, breakfast was fantastic and the guest services coordinator walks around to ask people what they have been doing/what they need help with. The location was perfect - we walked to all of the Old Town sites within minutes and even easy to walk across the Galata Bridge to the other side of the Boshporus. . The staff is very friendly, easy-going and eager to help.Fruit, nuts, snacks always on hand in the lobby were a nice touch FYI - the on-site hammam and sauna are an extra charge but the gym is not. Word of advice - research restaurants before you go there and ask hotel to make reservations for you a day in advance. When asked for recommendations Staff tends to send you to pre-screened set restaurants, all of which have brochures and free private transfers. Recommendations were fine but quite touristy and we like to find more local/hidden gems, which is hard to do in Istanbul because of all of the little alleyways. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Sultania for 5 nights in October 2012. We have travelled to quite a few countries and stayed in many hotels - Hotel Sultania is perhaps the best hotel we have stayed in, anywhere. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and so cheerful - typical of all the Turkish people we met whilst travelling around Turkey. The room was modern, and had so much Turkish character - even turkish delight left each day. The breakfast was absolutely first rate, the breakfast area opening onto the quiet pedestrian street. Istanbul is a wonderful city, and Hotel Sultania is in easy walking of all the attractions. Put simply, great city, great hotel, I hope maybe one day we can visit Istanbul again, and I will definitely stay at Hotel Sultania again.

This hotel should be rated at no1! My husband and I stayed at this fab boutique hotel for a total of 6 days, having a 2 day break in between to visit relatives so stayed in 2 different rooms. I cannot fault this hotel in any aspect, from booking to checking out communication was excellent. We had the free airport pick up which was great and on arrival at the hotel we were greeted and checked in with no problems, we were even given a complemtary drink and there are always trays of fruit , nuts and nibbles in the lobby for you to enjoy. We were swiftly taken to our room, the rooms are beautiful, shower room design is fab, the lighting is lovely and romantic and the bed one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in.Our room was cleaned daily and little dishes of Turkish delight were left for us to enjoy (nice touch). There is lots of information in the room about things to do and see but the absolute highlight of this hotel are its staff, so helpful and nothing is too much trouble, have to give a special mention to semih who was particularly helpful. So now on to the breakfast, I have never seen anything more varied, how anyone can say anything negative about it is beyond me , a variety of cold meats, cheeses, olives, fruits, cereals, an abundance of different breads, then there is a chef that will cook omelettes , waffles and eggs to order, even a toastie maker and chocolate fountain are there for your use also the restaurant staff are on hand to make tea and coffee, in one word excellent. The location of this hotel is second to none with all major attractions within walking distance, sultan Ahmet , the blue mosque and bascilica cisterns just round the corner, there are some nice restaurants around the area but a lot are over priced for tourists but one I would reccomend is sarnic just at the top of the little cobbled street at the entrance to top kapi palace it's a stunning restaurant and the food lovely.Istanbul is amazing and staying at the sultania will only enhance your wonderful experience......... Thanks for the most amazing time , Kerry & bora x

Comfortable, clean and well decorated, with good access to the tourist sights. The rooms have a mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities and free wifi, and during the day the lobby has a tourist person offering trips of the local sites. The staff are very friendly and helpful and on hand 24 hours a day to assist.

Only negatives were despite fully turning on the air conditioning the room was still too hot and the shower/bathroom was a cubicle in the room rather than a separate room.

Istanbul has a lot of people trying to rip you off at every turn, but the staff at the Hotel Sultania look after you.

Hotel Sultania has a great location and offers excellent service. We stayed for six nights and were able to easily reach anywhere in the city by foot or public transport. The staff were always happy to help and offer advice on where to go and what to do. The hotel has a nice ambience, good facilities and is well-maintained; the breakfast buffet is excellent. I recommend Hotel Sultania without hesitation!
