i would like to advise Villa Denise for travellers who adore Bosphorus. Just a little bit far from a touristic places Villa Denise offers to geasts a real home athmosphere.. Enjoy your morning walking near Bosphorus as well as really best places to eat fish in Istanbul in just one step from a hotel. Rooms are quite big and equipped very well. Public transportation via bus is easy to get an Istanbul main historical places as well as a good shopping in Istinye Park

Room Tip: all rooms are very nicely furnished..

Staying in Villa Denise is like staying at your wealthy friend's mansion on the Bosporus. The villa's several employees are friendly, helpful, and took care of any special request we had. For a house built in the 1800s, the rooms have been modernized in impressive fashion: modern bathrooms, lots of storage space, good air conditioning, and noise reducing windows, etc. Our room (Ortakoy i believe) had a great side view of the Bosporus.

The location works well for those who want to avoid the more touristy areas of Sultanahmet, Taksim, etc. You'll only be a 10-15 min walk to the bars, cafes, of Bebek...and a 15 min cab to the shops of Nisantasi. We highly recommend this location for those who don't plan on visiting tourist sites and want to experience Istanbul like a local resident.

while the male employee was very nice and extremely helpful, the other member (yes I said member) of the staff was not helpful. the restaurant is closed even through they still advertise it, the room was extremely noisy due to the location next to some popular restaurants, the room was somewhat worse for wear (peeling paint, windows that would not stay open or open at all), breakfast was sparse at best and the room was not cleaned properly. There are no non-smoking rooms. in a few words, if there is somewhere else available, choose the other place.

Room Tip: bring your ear plugs

Villa Denise is housed in a really nicely restored 19th century house in the Arnavutkoty area of Istanbul, about 2-3 km up the Bosphorus from Taksim, 3-4km from Sultanhamet. The room we had (Varnikoy) was large, comfy and well appointed, with a big bed, good aircon, big lcd screen tv and a kitchenette. The staff were all really pleasant and very helpful. There is a restaurant downstairs and the area is full of bars and restaurants, many with views over the water, as some of the hotel's rooms had, including ours (side view). The only downside is that because the area is so lively there is a fair amount of noise. The hotel windows are double glazed which helps, but light sleepers might struggle. All in all though it's a really nice place to stay in a really interesting old part of town (Arnavutkoy means Albanian Village and is full of 19th century wooden buildings like Villa Denise, although not all in so good a state of repair). Getting to Taksim or Sultanhamet takes about 20 mins on the bus (if no traffic, longer at rush hour) and the bus stop is close by.
