Certificate of Excellence

We stayed at the Amira in April with our teenage kids. It certainly deserves its good reputation on trip advisor. The staff couldn't be more helpful and kind. They treat you like a member of the family. Every piece of information given to us was beneficial. You did not feel at any point in time that they were trying to advertise a restaurant or venue. Breakfast was plentiful. Location was amazing. Loved walking to the Arasta Bazaar and from there to all the local attractions such as the Aghia Sophia. Easy cab ride into Taksim although be careful with the taxi drivers, who will try to rip you off.
The only reason we did not rate it excellent is because it is more of a 4-star deluxe rather than a 5-star, purely on experience with 5-star hotels.

Room Tip: Our kids had a family room street-level. A little dark and noisy but very roomy.

The Hotel Amira is simply outstanding. I would go as far as to say that it's the best hotel we have ever stayed in!

The location in the Old City on the European side is brilliant - just 5 minutes walk from the Hippodrome and 10 minutes walk from all the major sites and the tram stops. And yet it's in a lovely, quiet area. The rooms are immaculately clean; furnished simply but with class. The bed was just so comfortable, and it was sweet looking up at the painted ceiling - very Istanbul! The bathroom is quite luxurious with gorgeous toiletries.

Breakfast is delicious, and they also serve a lovely free afternoon tea every day for hotel guests. There is a roof-top terrace, and we were able to bring in our own wine and the hotel supplied us wine glasses... what a lovely end to the evening to sit under the stars, and look out over the views and lights of Istanbul whilst sipping a local Turkish wine.

All this is great, but the thing that makes the Amira stand out from every other hotel is the friendly, kind, and OUTSTANDING service by the wonderful staff. We honestly felt like movie stars - we were treated like celebrities! The moment we arrived we were greeted with open arms and open hearts, especially by Emre - the most considerate hotel manager we have ever encountered. On arrival, he took us straight into the breakfast room, and spend over half an hour going through maps with us; suggesting itineraries, restaurants, guides and so forth. He phoned to make dinner reservations at the restaurant of our choice (which was in another hotel) and arranged a complimentary shuttle to pick us up and take us there. And get this... he popped into the restaurant on his way home at 10pm to check that we were OK and having a good time!

We booked a tour through the hotel (a day's walking tour through Istanbul) and it too was excellent. Our guide, Seda, was lovely - so knowledgeable about history, art, architecture. And she could answer every question we asked her!

Our stay in Istanbul was so wonderful. A highlight at the end of our 6-weeks of travel. And that's all thanks to the wonderful Emre and Hotel Amira. We cannot recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: All rooms look great. You don't really need a balcony (we had one) as you can use the lovely ro...

We stayed here for one night at the end of a cruise, wish we could have stayed longer! Everything about it was wonderful including the location, staff, ambience and restaurant. Breakfast was beautifully presented, rooftop bar area was lovely, staff couldn't be more helpful.

Room Tip: if you are bothered by light road noise ask for a room facing the quiet street at the side

What an outstanding find in Istanbul. We stayed four nights in July 2014. There was nothing not to like about this hotel, coming as it did at the end of five weeks in Europe. In particular the staff were very friendly, very helpful, and gave good advice on everything from airport transfers to good restaurants. Breakfast was special and the (free) 4.00-6.00pm "afternoon tea" every day wonderful. It's location is very convenient (i.e. walking distances) for all the major sights in the old town.

Highly recommended and would stay again in a flash if we get the chance.

Room Tip: Probably rooms above street level would be quieter but this opinion is unproven.

We flew in from Barcelona to be met by complimentary pick-up (ours was the Cultural Package) at Sabiha Gokcen airport. After a smooth, comfortable drive we were met warmly by BJ, who took us downstairs for a drink and nibbles while our luggage was settled in our room. He chatted at great length about our stay and arranged a private guide to accommodate our elderly bones. Mineh (sic) was wonderful - a font of knowledge and fluent in English. Over the next few days she showed us all the wonderful sights as well as places to eat. Well worth the reasonable cost.
Our room was quite lovely (and quiet), with a modest view onto the street at first-floor level. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom absolutely adequate. Cozy robes were appreciated. The generous-size desk in the room provided a great base for use of the computer (free wifi).
Loved the terrace - glorious views. Breakfast room was large and airy with a great array of breakfast choices beyond the "European" breakfast. Humorous touches in the artwork of the lift and terrace reflected the cheerfulness of the warm and friendly staff.
The charming staff are a star feature of this delightful boutique hotel.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Amira as a wonderful base from which to explore Istanbul.

we stayed here for 3 nights before our cruise. Our flight landed at 6-30 am, so we were at hotel at 7-30.
Arthur gave us breakfast, including delicious Turkish coffee , then explained where all the attractions we wanted to see were.
By that time our room was ready, and so we could leave on our walk refreshed.Any request we made was sorted immediately and with a friendly manner. The room was well set up, clean and comfortable, wifi was good. Thoroughly recommended

We stayed at the Hotel Amira on the first night of our 3 week stay in Europe and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
They recommended restaurants, guides and helpful sightseeing tips. Our room was large, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would definitely stay here again. This hotel is a jewel!

Room Tip: Basement is quiet, cool and comfortable
