From our first day with a run-down of Istandul from A.J. The attention to detail and the personal service fom the staff was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble from bookings to laundry and the best paces to visit or eat. Breakfast was a trifle predictable and the hot food side a little sparse but still better than the average. Our room was well appointed with a fair size balcony. The bathroom clean and well appointed. Noise level was good and even the call to prayer did not wake us in the early hours. There is a short walk uphill to the major sites i.e Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc. but the hotel is ideally situated for the average tourist. There are plenty of restaurants nearby but generally most are the usual touristy kebab joints. There are however quite a number of good places to eat at reasonable prices but I will not adjudicate as we all have different tastes. Of six persons we met with following our stay in Istanbul, three suffered stomach upsets within two days of arrival. Suggest care as to where you eat and do not drink the water even as ice in your Coke.

We stayed here for 3 days. We had a corner room on the second floor, and it had a ton of windows and space. The hotel is situated on a busy corner, so there's a lot of stuff to see, but when you close the windows it is quiet. Our group spent a lot of time on the rooftop. It is very neat to be up there around sunset, when you can hear the call to prayer from 5 different mosques. Each one sounds different, and the combination is kind of eerie. There is a littkle convenience store just across the street. The hotel gives you a decent sized water bottle every day, and if you need more, ask at the front desk. Breakfast and afternoon tea were both very good. And I thought the other reviewers were probably exaggerating when they said the front desk guy looks like Robert Downey Jr, but he really does. Take time to walk down to the park on the waterfront. It's only about a block and a half from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room

My wife and I stayed here over 2 visits, May and June. The location is great, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace all walking distance. The hotel is in the old city of Sultanahmet - historical and charming. There are plenty of restaurants to suit most food choices, and the food is so interesting. There is one thing that makes this hotel great and that is the staff - Begum, Ferit, AJ, Arthur, Burak, Sim and Tina, anf of course the kitchrn staff. Together they make a wonderful team that provides great service, nothing is too much trouble. Be sure not to miss afternoon tea every day from 4.00 to 6.00. It was also fun chatting to other visitors every day in the dining room. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the best holiday in Turkey.

We stayed four nights here and loved it. Staff were exceptionally helpful - we had an issue with one of the tours (golden horn) where they cancelled the golden horn cruise (!) on the day without compensation, but Hotel Amira who booked the tour compensated us. We walked to everything except the Bosphorus - it is at the bottom of everything so be prepared for hills! Within 1000ft of good restaurants and lots of choice. We just got the standard room and it was fine. Staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location. Don't book their airport transfers, you can get them cheaper over the net.

From arrival to departure this was a first class hotel. On arrival they give you an introduction to Istanbul and continue to care about you during your stay. Rooms are good and the beds really comfortable. Location is perfect for walking to all the major sites. Rooftop bar is a perfect place to end the day with great views over the Sea of Marmaris. Would recommend this hotel to friends without hesitation

This hotel is a gem among a Plethora of hotels in the old city.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome and the friendly staff go out of their way to keep that experience alive for the entire stay. From sitting down with you on arrival, determining the number of days you are staying and suggesting what would be practical for you to see over that period to the friendly service on the wonderful rooftop deck, you will need to go a long way to find a stay better than this.

The rooms are well appointed with a shower or a bath. Ours had a strong shower whose only issue was not draining fast enough. Double windows mean that you may be at street level but the noise does not penetrate at all.

Breakfast is middle eastern with scrambled eggs and the buffet choice is varied enough to please the fussiest of eater.

Non smoking hotels are the Bain of my life, but easy access to the lift which takes you up to the roof top makes that part of the stay resolved simply.

Located in the old city, you are 10 minutes walk from most of the major sites and the tram stop. Taking a tram to the grand bazaar and spice market was simple. The sea front is 5 minutes walk where you can find out what the locals do when the sun sets.

They even loan you umbrellas when it looks like rain.

Overall an A+ experience.

Roof with a cocktail is peaceful and great view at dusk. Staff very helpful with buying tickets in advance and directions. Room immaculate and bedding same quality as JW Marriott. (: good location between blue mosque and Sea of Marmara. Uphill > 500 M walk to Blue Mosque. Fair price for location at 100 euro/ night
