“Beautiful Hotel, Fantastic Decor, walking distance to Blue Mosque + Trams!”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

Upon arrival we were met by friendly receptionist! We checked in and another receptionist took us to the breakfast room. We were given complimentary tea/coffee and as we checked in a 4pm they were serving complimentary cakes and biscuits for all guests - we were able to indulge!
We were then given an informative half hour of where to go, what to see, how to travel, things to avoid, restaurant recommendations. - A lovely personal touch by the hotel!
Room was on the ground floor - at night due to annoying Russian DRUNK people there was a lot of noise!! However the decor was modern, very comfy bed and bathroom was clean.
Breakfast was fresh, enjoyable and laid out nicely.

The location of the hotel is great walking distance to sultanahmet tram, the blue mosque. Going on the tram you can visit other places. Avoid the market behind the blue mosque as it is very over priced!
Do go to the market Grand Bazar, Spice Market, do walk to see the Galata Tower - beautiful view right at the top!
MUST GO TO ALBURA KATHISMA restaurant - SUPERB FOOD!

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the ground floor although it is a larger room the noise levels can escalate!

We stayed at the hotel Amira for four nights. I was very impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. On arrival we were greeted with delicious tea and cakes, and were given a run down on where all the main sights were situated, good places to eat, good shopping etc..

Our room was large, clean and well equipped; after an excellent night's sleep we awoke to a delicious breakfast in the dining room.

The hotel is perfectly situated within 5 minutes walk of the blue mosque, and 5 minutes to the major tramline. It has a roof terrace with terrific views of the Sea of Mamara.

We had booked a guide, through the hotel in advance, for our first day (this turned out to be a good move, as with a guide you can jump the queues for many of the sights).

I would recommend the Hotel Amira as an excellent place to stay.

The Hotel Amira offered us accomodations for 3, which it seems is unusual in Istanbul (we had 2 queen beds and a twin). The staff, the room, and all of the amenities honestly surpassed any of our expectations. We were greeted by a very professional, warm staff who immediately asked us about our interests in visiting the city and set up a plan to help us make the most of our stay. It was literally a 5 minute walk up cobblestone streets (passing some really nice shops and a bazaar) to get to the Blue Mosque,AyaSophia and the Topkapi Palace. Our tour guides were very knowledgable and super professional. The breakfast offered by the hotel every morning covered all types of foods (or if you wanted to you could order from a menu) and the afternoon tea was a treat!!! They sent up strawberries and melted chocolate for my birthday...The rooftop lounges were relaxing with a beautiful view of the Bosphorous...An amazing experience!!! I would go back again in a heartbeat!!!

We stayed for a few days there and I can't say enough good things about the Hotel stuff!
Thank you a million for showing us the real hospitality of Turkish people. We felt really spoilt and had an answer to any question we had, before we even thought about it. A special thanks to Arthur who made us feel better than at home.
The Hotel is perfectly situated, near most of the must see attractions. Aghia Sofia, Blue Mosque, the Basilica, Top Kapi. You name it, it's all less than 15 minutes away (on foot or combined with the tram).
Breakfast buffet is marvelous and has a nice variety and Wireless Internet is covering every corner of the Hotel.
The rooms are spacious and clean, but maybe could have had some better sound insulation.
All in all totally recommended!
Again, thanks to the people that make this Hotel worthwhile.

Hotel Amira is an excellent hoteland the location is perfect. The staff are welcoming and unfailingly helpful and friendly. The receptionist took time to explain to us about Istanbul and to make recommendations about places to eat and how to get around. This seems to be done with all guests and was really appreciated. Breakfast is very good and there is complimentary tea and cakes in the afternoon. We had a room at road level and yet were not aware of any noise. We would recommend it to anyone and would not hesitate to go back.

My boyfriend met up with some friends and stayed at Amira. I was a bit disappointed by the exterior on arrival but soon got over it once we were greeted by hotel staff. Tina at the front desk took us into the bar/dining room and gave us a run down of all the hotel ammeneties and info on everything from restaurants, city tours and must see tourist attractions....and the free cocktail helped too! The staff was super friendly, helpful and always curtious. Our room was great! Ask for room 701. I think it may be a suite but it was spacious and had it's own outdoor balcony area. Tina mentioned it was the only room i the hotel with it's own open space. The rest of the hotel was kept clean and never saw any other guests when I stayed except during breakfast. All the main tourists spots are withing a 20 minute (or less) walk from the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was simple and enough to get your day going and there's plenty of nearby restaurants with excellent menus. I recommend this hotel if it's your first Istanbul trip and want to hit up all the main sites in the Old City.

Room Tip: Room 701! Has it's own outdoor patio area.

The hotel is very convenient for all the main attractions being in the old city behind the Blue Mosque. Although there is a taxi rank outside there is very little noise and we were on the ground floor overlooking the road. The staff are very helpful and friendly as well as giving useful information on restaurants etc. The breakfasts are very good and the complimentary tea and cake at 5pm was perfect to keep you going before dinner. I could find no fault with the hotel and would certainly stay there again.
