“Believe the excellent reviews!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2011

Reality can fall short of ones expectations when so many people rave about something. Not with Hotel Amira and their staff. We stayed seven nights starting October 20, 2011. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that this is a staff that goes the extra mile to take care of you. We arrived later than planned the first evening, tired. We were greeted warmly by Ferhat who invited us to sit with him as he went over all the pertinent details of the hotel and city while we enjoyed very good complimentary Turkish wine. Kartal (The Eagle!), Arthur, Ferit and the other staff all had a great sense of humor, always greated us warmly and paid close attention to what we were looking for, giving us guidance accordingly. They have excellent suggestions, are great at listening. As one review said, it is not the Four Seasons nor is the price, but the staff are of the same quality. The hotel is in a good location, very clean, well appointed, roomy and provides a stellar roof top terrace to enjoy a drink as you look out to the sea. Aiziz the bartender is an absolute pleasure. The complimentary breakfast was very good, generous and set us up for the day. Be sure to visit the store across the street, Little St. Sophia Style Home, where Mehmet will do his best to find that special item to buy.

Clean, fresh smelling, modern U.S. style bath, luxurious mattress and linens; terrific breakfast, tea, late-night food, all free; polite, friendly knowledgeable staff; short walk to everything. We left a very substantial amount of cash in the trash and incredibly, they found it and wired it back to us.

Just returned from a long weekend at the Amira - brilliant! From the moment we were greeted by Arthur and he took us through the facilities of the hotel and their recommendations for sight-seeing, restaurants and bars (they only select the ones they like, not the ones that pay them commission!) to departure - the stay was perfect. Great location within walking distance of all of the old city sights, nice bar, comfortable rooms - we'll be back.

We booked Amira based on tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed in the slightest!
We stayed in the family room which was perfect for our family of five and even nicer than represented in the photos on tripadvisor. We loved the boutique feel and personalized welcome from Arthur. Breakfast was excellent and included many healthy choices. The position is outstanding and complimentary afternoon tea a delight!

I can't think of anything that could have been done better at Hotel Amira. They seem to have thought of everything, and they offer a fantastic value in the heart of Istanbul's Old Town. We booked one of their package rates, which included transfer to and from the airport. Once we arrived to the hotel, we were offered a welcome drink of our choice while hearing all about the city's attractions (being pointed out to us on a customized map for our use). The design of the room and entire hotel is charming and comfortable. We really enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet and 5 p.m. Turkish tea time (with many good pastries). The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. You could also book tours through the hotels, buy tram tokens (for the normal price), and there is an ATM machine for convenience. The location is approx. 5 minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, 10 min to Hagia Sophia and Topaki Palace, and 15 min to the Grand Bazaar. The tram is also located within a 10 minute walk (or less). We couldn't be more pleased with our stay here, and hope to return again soon!

We recently stayed at the Hotel Amira for five nights and found it to be incredibly comfortable and clean. The staff were wonderfully friendly, specifically the reception staff who would do anything for you to make your stay a happy one. I must also mention Aziz who worked in the bar & restaurant; possibly the happiest and most friendly person I've come across in a long while. Even when we got back on our last evening just after the bar had closed they were happy to still serve us a bottle of wine. Nothing appeared to be any bother.

The rooms were very comfortable (the bed being more comfy than mine at home!), the bathrooms very clean and with great showers. I would suggest maybe asking for a room which wasn't on street level as it could get a bit noisy but other than that, cannot think of a single reason why I wouldn't go back to this hotel. It is ideally located for sightseeing being right behind the Blue Mosque and only a short walk from the tram stop.

I love Turkey and go back every year - this hotel just epitomises the amazing level of service we've become accustomed to in that country.

Put simply, it was excellent.

Room Tip: Go for a room on a higher level to avoid street level noise.

This is truly the best run hotel I have ever been to. They do everything that could make your stay and exploration easy and fruitful automatically.

For example when you arrive they sit you down, while our bags are being put your room, offer you a free drink and give you a map which they then guide you through. Their recommendations were very good and made exploring very easy, though we still got lost a few times! You can buy tram tokens, at the normal rate, from reception, which they just add to your bill, which saves you time figuring out the machines. When we had problems with a tour company being late they phoned them on our behalf and sorted it out for us even though the booking had nothing to do with the hotel. They have free tea, coffee and cake at 5pm and the breakfasts were delicilous.

The room provides everything you could ask for and is of a very voluptuous turkish style. Nice touches like robes, a good selection of tea and coffee and a decent size bottle of complimentary water are great and make life easy.

The hotel is just so unbelievably well run, they really do make a huge effort to make you stay as pleasurable as possible. They even had some of their lamp shades expressed to us on our last night from their supplier because we liked them so much and wanted some to take home with us. Really really fantastic hotel.
