“Madness!”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

When in Istanbul you must take time to visit a bridge and watch the madness that is the Bosphorous strait. Commuters getting from one continent to another, cruise ships docking - a constant swirl of sea going traffic.. and in amongst it will be intrepid fishermen in little rowing boats. People also fish from the bridges ...

Istanbul was on our honeymoon cruise and yet again we found a place that we want to go back to!

“Worthwhile cruise”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

There are many men in the tourist areas attempting to sell Bosphorus cruises at a high price. You can take the public ferry for much less. I took the tram from my hotel near the Blue Mosque to the Eminonu stop. I walked across the street to the ferry terminals and turned left. There is a large terminal near the Galata Bridge that sells full day Bosphorus cruises for 25 liras roundtrip. Audioguides are an additional 10 liras. The company's name is Sehir Hatlari. Since I cruised in January, there was only one departure time (10:30am). I arrived about an hour early, but I could have waited until about 15 minutes prior to departure to buy my ticket. There was not a very large crowd on a cool Monday morning in January.

The cruise takes about 1 1/2 hours to reach the last stop Anadolu Kavagi. I sat outside on the boat and it was quite chilly, but it was worth it. The view was wonderful. You can see so many things from the Bosphorus that you would miss if you only traveled on land. After arriving in Anadolu, I walked/hiked up to the castle ruins. There is not very much to see once up there. The view is nice, but there is nothing else to do other than eat. I ate lunch at a restaurant in the town then returned to the ferry for the 3pm departure. The afternoon brought sun and slightly warmer temperatures making the seating outside on the ship more bearable.

Overall, this cruise was money well spent and the highlight of this visit to Istanbul. This was my second visit to Istanbul, so I was looking for something to do away from the Old Town area. I would recommend this cruise to visitors to the city. Try to make time to do it.

“busy!”

The water here is beautiful. There are so many water vessels at all times such as tour boats, water taxis and auto ferries.

“Nice Bosphorus tour”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

Very nice way on the bosphorus to se the most historical monuments outside the city center especially. if you're in the city only for a few days and cannot see everything, like dolmabahce palace, I highly recommend this tour on the bosphorus.
