Drink on arrival and the staff hospitality was a huge deal for us.

There was reservation/ booking hiccups regarding cancellaton/ room change but our reservation was honored without issues - for which we are so thankful!

Perfect choice & highly recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the 1st floor with balcony

This was our first trip to Istanbul and there were many choices for hotels. Based upon the reviews we decided to select Hotel Seraglio. Turned out to be a great decision. We were immediately greeted by the Manager who welcomed us by spending some personal time providing a guide to the city and basic directions that prooved most beneficial. The hotel location is excellent and within easy walking distance of major sights. The tram stop is also nearby that provides quick and easy access to attractions outside of an easy walk. Our room was very clean, comfortable and updated. Shower and water pressure was excellent and the complimentary on site morning breakfast was a nice way to begin the day. There is also an in house Bistro if you desire to have dinner without venturing out again. There is also a large group of dining establishments very nearby to choose from. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Istanbul. The entire staff made you feel welcome and treated you like family. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We requested a room facing the inner court yard. This appeared to dampen the early morning prayer ca...

My husband's comment "you did a great job finding this hotel"; and I have TripAdvisor reviews to thank! Hotel Seraglio met all of our needs and more. We arrived before check in time but were greeted with a smile and a welcome. We were even invited to enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee while we were given an overview of the hotel and sights. We were given a map as we set out to explore the neighborhood, and by the time we returned, our heavy bags were already delivered to our room!
The hotel is located in the Old Town Sultanhamet neighborhood with many other little inns and hotels. The location of these all just can't be beat - a few minute walk to the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia.
We enjoyed the European-style breakfast with the Turkish highlights of figs, apricots, and pastries, among other delicious offerings. Each evening the hotel invites guests to complimentary tea, coffee, and cakes from 5-7 pm in the hotel's cafe facing the street. A great atmosphere. Try the apple tea here if you don't try it elsewhere in town.
The room was spacious - including a king-size bed, which is rather rare in Europe in my experience. The bathroom was huge by small hotel standards. Shower alone was probably 3 feet by 6 feet (1 x 2 m)! They provided not only shampoo and shower gel but soap, ear swabs, shower cap. No hair conditioner though so plan for that if you need it. Hair dryer and minibar in room. We appreciated the complimentary water bottle. Air conditioning was great even though it wasn't sweltering out, and the windows offered a nice breeze.
And all of this was provided for a very reasonable cost. Thanks for providing a great finish to our European vacation!

Room Tip: Our room was on the second floor. Higher floor might have a slightly better view.

First trip to Istanbul and the TripAdvisor reviews didn't disappoint. Hotel Seraglio was better than expected. We had booked the terrace suite. Wonderfully large with a great view of the Blue Mosque. I wouldn't book the room if you are afraid of birds - the terrace would be wasted. A lot of birds hang out there! Great location - a short walk (maybe 5 mins) to all the major historical sites - Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace. The front desk staff is more than willing to help out with any questions and explain all the attractions in the area without being pushy. They will even exchange a few bucks to get you started at the front desk if you can't make it to the money exchange place right away. We were craving pizza one night, and the front desk ordered us pizza from a local joint (in Turkish) that could be delivered to the hotel. Awesome service! Would not hesitate recommending to friends and family.

Room Tip: The terrace room is rather large. Only one available. Book early.

Yes, Seraglio impresses on every count. We stayed for a few days in May on our first trip to Istanbul, and if there is a better place to stay in that city, it won't be worth it. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the owner, until the moment we left, nothing could be faulted. Service brilliant, excellent breakfast with omelettes cooked to order and large choice of fruit and pastries, fabulous bedroom. As so many reviewers have said, we will return to a hotel which makes all guests feel particularly welcome, is in the best location for the city sights, and a bus stop for those further afield. Surrounded by some excellent restaurants, some recommended by the hotel, nowhere else to choose!

Room Tip: Large room with walk in shower is fabulous, just fabulous

Our personal thanks to the staff and desk management at the Hotel Seraglio in the Old City of Istanbul. This boutique hotel went out of its way to make our first visit to this city most enjoyable. While a smallish hotel in the rather touristy section of the old city (sultanahmet district), I would go back...in a heartbeat. It's within a reasonably close walk to the all the sites one comes to Istanbul to see: the Blue Mosque, Haya Sofia, the Hippodrome, the Arasta Bazaar, Topkapi Museum and the like. The hotel helped us with a bus tour (a must if one is a stranger here) and a marvelous boat trip on the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara up to the Black Sea (about 3 hours overall including a great buffet on the boat). The hotel is fairly new, and the appointments are modern and clean. Beds are comfortable, and the place is very clean. My wife and I highly recommend a stay at this lovely little place. You can trust the staff to provide good guidance to a stay in Istanbul. Ask the hotel staff where to eat in the area; trust them. If you walk the streets you're always fending off restaurant shills. Also, if you take a bus tour and they suggest a stop at a handicrafts exhibit; say "no". You end up at a rug merchant and a lot of high pressure sales tactics.

Room Tip: There's no view of the water here, so any room you choose is fine. On the first floor there is a...

The staff was extremely helpful, the room clean, the breakfast included an omelet bar, and the hotel is well located in Sultanahmet near major sights, restaurants, and an easy walk to the tram. A very good restaurant is attached, which includes a complementary 4 o'clock tea.
