“Excellent accommodations, excellent staff and great location”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

We are 2 couples at mid 30s that stayed for 5 days during January 2014. We had rooms at the first and second floor overlooking the internal courtyard.
The front desk staff is excellent and we have felt very welcome. On arriving to the hotel, we were given a brief orientation of visiting Istanbul which was very helpful. We were offered a free upgrade from standard to luxury room and we had free complementary coffee and tea in the room. Room size is very spacious with a huge shower. The room was very quiet and the most important - very very clean. The bed is more than comfortable.
The hotel is offering free daily tea time with pastries and cookies - the appele tea is so good.
The free wifi was working properly.
The location is great at walking distance to main attractions of Sultanahmet. 10 minute walk to the nearest tram station that can get you to Bazaar District, Taksim or Galata bridge.
Breakfast buffet is ok, the omelette is very good end the staff is polite and frendly.
We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return :)
We thanks the staff for our enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: For the smokers, ask a room with balcony!

We are a couple at mid 30s that stayed for 6 days during January. We had a room at the first floor overlooking the internal courtyard. We spent little time at the hotel and we basically chose it for the location and the good rate.

PLUS
- Front desk staff is excellent. We have never felt more welcome.
- On arriving to the hotel, we were given a brief orientation of visiting Istanbul which was very informative.
- We were offered a free upgrade from standard to luxury room and a complimentary lunch for two at the hotel's restaurant.
- They were very helpful and efficient on making bookings at restaurants as well as suggesting places to go like the Chemberlitas Hamam which proved to be a very good choice.
- Room size is very spacious with a huge shower.
- Spotlessly clean.
- Very quiet room.
- Very comfortable bed
- Free daily tea time with pastries and cookies but we didn't use it.
- Free wifi working properly.
- Complimentary coffee and tea in room.

NEUTRAL
- Good location. Walking distance to main attractions of Sultanahmet. 10 minute walk to the nearest tram station that can get you to Bazaar District (15 minutes overall) or Galata bridge (20 minutes overall). However, it is a little bit difficult to reach Beyoglu which is the center of nightlife. You need to take the tram to Galata (about 20 minutes) and then the funicilar to Beyoglu (about 10 minutes). You have also the option of taxi which is cheap but try to avoid those fishing tourists in main spots and better stop taxis driving around.
- Didn't visit the restaurant.
- No view from the room.
- Room decoration seems a little bit updated but well maintained.

MINUS
- Breakfast buffet quality is below average but staff is polite.

We stayed at Hotel Seraglio for 5 nights, this hotel is in the center of the Old Town, all major sights were steps away. The staffs were super friendly. Celal, the receptionist, provided helpful sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. The hotel provided sandwiches for us to take away before our early (7 AM) morning flights. The room was very clean. And the shower has good water pressure. We highly recommend this hotel for travelers.

Hotel Seraglio was perfect the minute we stepped foot in Istanbul. The front desk was quick to orient us with the best-of-the-best in Istanbul, including Turkish bath and Bosphorus cruise recommendations (both were great!). The rooms were extremely spacious and the surprisingly loud "call for prayer" cannot really be avoided in the early morning...think of it as unique ambiance for your trip :) The breakfast buffet was great and so was the in-house restaurant, not only for the free daily tea time, but the dinner food was DELICIOUS. Actually the best kebap we had while in Istanbul! The shuttle service, free one-way if you book 4 or more nights, is extremely convenient and I highly recommend arranging your airport transportation through the hotel. I am extremely glad I chose Hotel Seraglio for our stay, as the gracious staff and comfortable accommodations made it that much more memorable.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel during our travels to Istanbul. We can't say enough about the incredible and very accommodating staff. They helped to acquaint us with Istanbul the minute we walked through the door. The price point was great and the location is excellent for first-time visitors to the city. Would recommend you also work with the hotel on airport transfers if needed - this will help you from getting overcharged by taxi drivers. The rooms are very clean and rather spacious. Breakfast each morning is also a huge plus. Would definitely recommend!

We spent four nights here in two rooms on the top floor with one room overlooking the blue Moseque. The hotel is well located for all major Sultanahmet attraction and the Sultanahmet tram (best option for getting to northern side of city) was a few minutes walk.

Staff were friendly and helpful with attractions, directions, restaurants and changing money at much better exchange rate than airport. Airport exchange kiosks offer low rates and charge 4% commission; however, money changer in the town and hotels will exchange will no commission and better rate!

The room were well presented, perhaps on the smaller size. Whilst not in the hotel control, the call to prayer at sun rise is pretty loud especially if facing the mosque and it goes on for a few minutes.

Breakfast was ok. They key attraction was fresh made omelettes . .

There is a small restaurant attached to the hotel. We ate there on our first night: it was fine; tasty plain vanilla Turkish food.

All in all, a pleasant stay and we recommend the hotel. If you pay can pay cash then as advertised on hotel website there is a discount.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper best to get a room facing courtyard to reduce noise from early morning ca...

Well located option in Istanbul, close enough to all major sites, yet away from all the noise .The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the booking and check in process was handled efficiently. The food in the hotel was first class and we were sorry we didn't eat there on more occasions. The bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable and for the price we paid, we thought we got good value. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and would stay here again.
