My daughter and I went to Istanbul to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was really hard to decide on a hotel without knowing the area, but I couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice. Not only is it in the perfect location, very close to the Arasta Bazaar, Sultanahmet Mosque and the Aya Sofya, but the people couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. We very much appreciated feeling comfortable and completely at ease at the hotel.
Hotel beds are usually not as comfortable as what I have at home, not the case here. Not only was the mattress wonderful, but there was also a nice assortment of pillows, and a fluffy European style duvet. The spare blanket was also very nice, not flimsy like you usually find in most hotels. The bathroom was up to American standards with good water pressure, and a nice shower.
The hotel itself was very well maintained, both inside and out, and immaculate at all times. If you are not used to walking up and down a lot of stairs, you might want to make sure that your room is on the side with the elevator.
There was, at times, noise from the hallway/stairs, but this is understandable due to the type of flooring. If noise is something that will trouble you make sure to bring some earplugs. The call to prayer is pretty loud; we were on the ferry half-way to Kadıköy and could still hear it clearly. We thought that this was one of the best things about being in Istanbul, and were not unhappy that we could hear it in our hotel room.
I liked the fact that the Wi-Fi was specific to each area of the hotel. We only had one issue with the Wi-Fi not working and this was taken care of in a timely manner. Otherwise we had no issues with using it with our phones (iPhone & Blackberry), iPad or computer.
The food at the hotel was all beautifully presented and very tasty. My daughter and I still are arguing which soup was better – the chicken or the vegetable. For my birthday they had a very beautiful cake with candles during tea, it was very nice.
