All the buildings we visited were wonderful. The queues were very bad after midday. The Blue Mosque was magic as was Sophia.

Beautiful places. Nice people. Great food and coffee. It is safe and has a great buzz around it. Just walk around, have a coffee, read about the history and soak in the sights. Grand bazaar seemed a bit overhyped but everything else was just amazing. For so many tourists and such a populous city, Istanbul has managed to keep this district in a great condition. Did not find any chaos anywhere - it was clean, signboards were present and there are enough guides available.
Do not forget to try the Mevlevi Sema whirling dervishes at the hodja pasha.

Found it safe and easy to get around! The sites are well managed for foreign tourists to enjoy. The street car is easy to navigate and conveniently runs through the old Istanbul areas.

Try to get there early before the crowds and enjoy the mystical and serenity of the place in peace. Everything is in walking distance Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Archaeology Museum, Big Bazaar, Islamic Museum and the historical square of Sultanahmet.
