“Not Your Typical Greek Restaurant”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My girlfriend and I were brought to Eleos by a Turkish friend. We walked into this rather forlorn office building and arrived on an upper floor where, upon walking in, I felt like Alice falling down into wonderland. Suddenly there was this charming, white washed space filled with delicious smells and an equally arresting view out toward the Bosphorous. We were served an array of small plates and much it arrived without our asking, free of charge. It was sublime. The few bad reviews of this restaurant are a mystery to me. This was the most memorable setting and meal we had in Istanbul.

“Fresh fish and great view”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Eleos is a warm and welcoming Greek restaurant. It's in an uprepossessing building on Iskital Street. The fish is very fresh and the mezze are very good and varied. The house white wine
was the best we had in Turkey. An outside covered terrace offers a great nighttime view of the city, best to ask for a table there when you make a reservation. There were many dishes brought to our table that were "on the house"--more so than in any other restaurant in Turkey. These included a delicious fresh fruit plate for dessert. There is not much English spoken, but the communication was still fine. I would definitely return.

“Avarage”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

I visited the Eleos in Beyoglu, not in Yesilkoy. It's a kind of elegant Greek and Turkish mixed restaurant, it's not a tavern and that's why you can not feel the Greek hospitality, Greek spirit, etc there. The foods was OK, not all of them was Greek, it was half Greek half Turkish; the servise was good as in elegant restaurants. But as I mentioned before, when you go to a Greek restaurant in some other country, you would like to feel the same atmosphere as it is in Greece. This place is not even close to that. The only possitive thing that they have is the magnificant view of Istanbul.

“Ripoff - be careful”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

We had a pleasant meal as friends, constantly impressed by the 'ikram' or 'complimentary' dessert, only to find that we were being charged for things that we didnt order. Also The 'kuvar' charge (price for plates, water and bread) was ridiculous.

When we mentioned this to the head waiter, he grumbled and said he would remove the fee, only to come back with the same bill, assuming we wouldnt notice. In the end, with much argument, He treated us as though we were being obtrusive.

When eating here, please check the bill and calculate what you pay for. Eleos assumes its customers are drunk and most dont realise they are paying for many extras that are pushed onto them, especially tourists.
