The staff was really friendly and helpful. Great location close to all the tourist sights in Sultanahmet, but 'behind' the main tourist streets making the experience more local and authentic. Nice and clean rooms. Good view from the roof terrace. We would choose this hostel again.

Stayed for a weekend there with my mom in March. The hotel is simple, not pretending, but it is really authentic. Breakfast rather poor, wiFi connection available, bathroom old, with sitting shower. The staff was really helpful and gave some advice. Old creaky staircases, not too clean in a room. But for that price and location you get the best deal.

I stayed at Ast hotel when I visited Istanbul last year. It is located in the Sultanahmet area and is pretty close to the main attractions of the city. Though the hotel was very difficult to find and it is advised to call the hotel owner and meet at the tram station instead of going looking on your own.

The room I stayed in was comfortable though the bathroom could have been better. There was no balcony with the room make it feel a little dingy. The breakfast buffet was nice and sumptuous. The hotel owner was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to a bunch of guys or friends traveling in a group rather than couples.

From booking through hotels.com, I can only assume the Ast Hotel was overbooked when I arrived in the evening. The staff was friendly and served me hot tea after I arrived. I paid my 140 euros for a 2 night stay and waited. It is now 12 midnight and others have checked in and long gone to their rooms. After I expressed the need for my room, I was shown a dirty basement used as a storage area with a bunk bed, no locking door, a cold shower, in a freezing cold room. I refused to stay there and they brought me back to the lobby and called someone. A man came in and said he was taking me to their "other" hotel nearby. It was a room in a dirty hotel with rate posting at the counter of equivilent 35 euros per night. The shower was cold. I was told to receive the included breakfast, I was to walk back to the Ast Hotel. It took 1.5 hours to find it the next morning.

this hotel was the worst one i have ever been in Turkey. We got no fresh towels, not good breakfast,no bar at all,no maid to come and tidy up rooms. This was very disappointing for us and I really dont recommend this hotel.

the business card of the manager says "You will feel nostagia with us" . Great if you want to be nostagic for 1960s shabby boarding house. Unfortunately it is not priced at 1960s prices. Rooms are not serviced daily, toiletries are a watered down soap dispenser on the shower wall.
The wireless internet is intermittent.
The best thing about this location is that there is a fantastic restaurant called Cesme just down the road.
