“A jewel in the heart of Instabul”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

It is a very beautiful hotel, in a quiet place. It isn't in the center of instabul, but there is bus station very close to it. The service is amazing. The breakfast consists many different tastes. I stayed in a double bed room and is suitable for people that want only a rest

We made our reservation based on facilities available in this hotel. Please don't make the same mistake, it's all a big lie. While the pool is there, open and you are welcome to it, it sadly lacks water. Staff doesn't seem to find that problematic since its 'open' and the water should be 'delivered any day now.' Sauna... Dream on.

Placed in Aksaray, just 2 tram stations away from the Grand bazar and 4 stations from SultanAhmet where the main tourist attractions are, I would give 4 point out of 5 for placement, 3 points for the welcoming lobby and the friendly reception staff - but only friendly cause when we said we had a problem with the heating system they only said they'll be right in but haven't seen them at all.
Rooms are small and far from hving the normal height, so if you're 1,75 m or above u might feel a bit like leanin down;)) I'm only 1.65 but I had the feeling the ceiling its way to close.
This is not a 4 stars hotel!!! and even if they don't display the number of stars, everyone should know that in Turkey 4 stars it's usually 3. Despite fine leather couches and armchairs in the lobby, furniture is modest, towels were far from being snow white and soft.
Though, they had: toothbrush and paste kits, which I haven't found in another hotel, towels were changed every day and the sheets were soft and white, makin u feel cosy. Good matresses.
view its either in a quiet but ugly inner courtyard either the noisy street, ur choice.
I paid for a triple room, instead I got a small crowded with furniture double with a extensible uncomfortable bed.
Breakfast and dinner were poor in choice, ham at breakfast was old and smelly, dinner was no choice but just one course and the staff in the restaurant generally ok, except an older man, that kept mumbling from everything.
The hotel wasn't my choice, the price was though acceptable.
Overall.. average.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one in the back. They have a sauna, if ur interested.

The hotel was on very good place, close enough to everything and far enough to sleep the night. Although the breakfast was normal and not real Turkish, all services were OK. The room was as they promised and not a "Photoshop". the stuff was very helpful, and tried to help in everything, on all languages.

The absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It is sooo bad that I felt compelled to
write a review while still here. It is absolutely the noisiest hotel I have ever been in. Because the price is cheap the hotel is filled with young people who scream, drink in the rooms and basically party all night!! After complaining numerous times, the manager said, that he asked them to quiet down but ultimately there was nothing he could do. So if this is what you are looking for come on down...

We have stayed twice in Grand Unal and I would say that this is one of the nice and good looking 3 star (if I am not wrong) hotels at the Aksaray & Laleli area. The location is pretty good - it is a walking distance (like 15 min) to Grand Bazar and maybe another 10-15 min from there to Sultanahmet. The tram station is nearby – like 2-3 min away from the hotel. The tram can take you to the main sightseeing places (Grand Bazar, Sultanahmet (where Hagia Sofia, The Blue Mosque, Top Kapi, The Cistern are located). Also, at the last stop of the tram – Kabatas – you can get off for the Dolmabahce Saray which is just 2-3 min walking from there.
The rooms of the hotel we have been accommodated were spacious and tidy. They cleaned them every day and also the towels were changed daily. The restaurant is on the top of the hotel and you have a nice view to the sea. The breakfast is good enough, nothing fancy but fresh and there was always hot soup as well (as we stayed during winter and early spring).
The only think I don’t really like is the area around – a lot of people selling things on the streets (actually there is some kind of a night market even I think for not very good quality stuff)around there and trying to do some ‘alis –veris’ as it’s called (some kind of business to make some money).
I would recommend the hotel for a short and budget stay in Istanbul.

Pretty nice hotel. The room was small, but comfortable. The staff was nice. the location of the hotel is very nice, there is tram stop ,about 5 min walking , that takes you to St Sofia church and Grad bazaar.
We only had breakfast, it was very good . The restaurant is located on the top of the hotel, so you can see the sea while you eat.
